Thomas' CADE Reef 1500 S2

One week mark, decided to let the male loose. Looks to be a success, they follow each other around and help each other hunt! Both eating like pigs:

There was a little bit of chasing to start but they're very settled now. The female's neurotic behavior is completely gone (no more window surfing or chasing its reflection).

Couple SPS frags got fried, I probably should have acclimated them to the light before gluing. Kinda surprised given there's just the single A360XE.

It looks like the two are in perfect harmony. They are beautiful fish, and as a pair, they are even more so.

How did mounting your 2040 bar go? I want to go that route as well to hang my lights instead of an Ecotech RMS hanging rail but I’m not sure what I need for it.

I know how to hang wire down from the ceiling. I see the 2040 extrusion on the Tnutz website.. I’m just confused how people are hanging the extrusion itself to the wire hooks hanging from the ceiling

Still waiting for Eric to invent a time machine at he has time to help me set it up lol

They sell different size locking nuts. Get the appropriate thread size and use a matching screw through the hanging kit. As an example, I used M4 T-nuts with 1/2” M4 screws.

Need to still adjust everything and mount the ballasts, but luckily we hit a beam up top to really anchor the hanging brackets. Used a Neptune Sky mounting bracket that @robert4025 had in stock and modified it to fit the Tnutz loops on the top of the 2040 rail. View attachment 65967

@MarcosD I still have an extra unopened hanging kit.
Are you planning to add some bars later?

Wait are these the same two cbb he tried to pair last year
Glad both are back together! Rooting for your success and glad they went to a good home

Can’t wait to continue watching them from afar!
looks like the second attempt worked!! Maybe was the long separation and the cbb didn’t wanna loose out again!! Lol hopefully they don’t need counseling after their honeymoon!
Great job

Eh maybe, we'll see how this does. Liking how little light spill there is.

Yep, same pair, just separated by a few months and a few tanks. They've got a lot of room now so they seem pretty relaxed.

Dang he’s a genius for figuring that out! I was looking at those same black hook accessories but couldn’t figure out how I’d do it.

I ordered some fish eye parts from tnutz but they told me they wouldn’t be compatible. So I’m taking some advice from @Reefinglens and ordered these. I’m going to attach them with the Nicrew hanging kits that I have on hand. I reached out to Nicrew and they told me they use M4 screws.

Hoping it works.. otherwise I’ll hit you up and buy that hanging mount from you if you still have it lol!

Let's see some updates now that you have lights!!!
Nothing super exciting. Spread out the corals and going very low on the acclimation (15-100% over 45 days). Still need to get more tnutz and screws to finish mounting the ballasts. Green cyano is starting to disappear as the star found its way to the back. Added a third Vortech MP40 thanks to another driver board swap @boun11 and another chip I found in an old Vectra.

The tank definitely needs some red to offset all the green. Probably need some anthias or flasher wrasses. Also ordered a few mystery inverts that will live in my sump off the SWA sale.

Bubble algae is gone after adding the emeralds from Neptune (picked females).

@tribbitt here's a closeup of that hammer with the gold more visible during the actinic period:

These two follow me everywhere looking for food all day long even though I feed cubes twice and the auto feeder goes off 5x daily:

Are you going 100% on the three Reefis?

Are you going 100% on the three Reefis?
Using the standard ramps with the SPS settings at peak with slightly more warm white and less cool white. You're right that technically the max wattage is only 60%. I'll test it once I have the Apogee meter. Side note, I've found that SPS frags I've gotten from non ReeFi tanks seem to bleach badly unless I adapt them even under matching PPFD. I'm thinking it's the extra amount of violet and UVA the lights provide vs. when they're used to just narrow 420-440 nm blue spectrum (usually what light manufacturers use as the cheapest to drive coral growth).

The various SPS frags I got from @dandemeyere are doing well under my reefi light but it does not go much higher than 350 PAR or so. And he is using the classic lights but cannot remember if Kessil or Ecotech. I think light sensitivity of SPS is often a fluoride deficiency - assuming an imbalance between nutrients and dkh is already ruled out.
