Reef nutrition

Thomas' CADE Reef 1500 S2

Some dirty pane photos and updates. The copperband keeps trying to fight its reflection in the corners, so we had to put a towel over the left side of the tank. It seems to have normal behavior in the AM and while eating, but after its full, it turns into a nut. No aggression to other real fish however. Huge pig though and follows us around begging for food:

Added a small Bellus female and a sand sifting star from @under_water_ninja . Picked up a Hydros Launch from @robert4025 to link with the wave engine once I get some time to hook everything together! Side note, what types of screws/nuts do people recommend for mounting things onto controller boards? This one looks like 1/8" manufactured wood.

Star doing a great clean up job in the center:

Also added some backup frags from my old tank to test. ReeFi lights are on backorder until January too so not adding much more.

I don't use an auto-feeder in general, only on vacations. I have a screen top made by Kraken Reefs (it's so-so), and there is a hole cutout for feeding. I just set my auto feeder next to it so it drops food in. I use a funnel whose tip is submerged in the water so the pellets don't just float around.

Me too. It's the only fish I would still like to have in my tank at this point.
She's really gorgeous. Couldn't quite get the full orange stripe on the anal fin but very active and healthy:

I just need to get another one or two!

Installed the Hydros launch and I really like how all the damn lights go out at night unlike my X4. Next step is to set up the plank feeder.

Last update for the year. Picked up a tiny Tomini tang from Kenny (maybe an inch and a half).

Transferred my yellow wrasse from my nano after my eDNA test showed no cryptocaryon or other fish parasites, which is shocking for a nearly 20 year old tank (this idiot fell for the Nyos trap so quickly).

Added a Kessil WiFi dongle which is pretty nice to customize color and timing. Starting to see coralline algae forming on the new rocks (7 weeks since lights went on). Tiny bit of hair algae on the sand on the left, but the rocks are clean due to lots of snails, crabs, and a couple tuxedos. No true "ugly" phase by using cured rock methods, a tiny bit of established rock, and herbivores.

Moved some tester frags from my 29g and here's the final update for 2024:

Your old nano was seriously 29 years old? If so i was 8 and prob running around pretending to be a power ranger, or a ninja turtle

If it is aiptasia that CBB should take care of it if he gets hungry! I had a cool 2 1/2 inch redish color aiptasia for a while until he moved in lol..

I agree with Mike, looks like aiptasia to me too
I would scrape off the desirable parts and toss that rock
But that’s just me
It's definitely not, it's a Bartholomea annulata. Same family, but different genus. Berghia didn't touch it, the copperband doesn't touch it, it's from the Caribbean, probably 4-5 inches in length, doesn't sting corals, and it has a reflexive reaction to touch that is totally different. Next goal is to track down a Pederson's cleaner shrimp since they have a "hosting" relationship. My sexy shrimp used to do the same too.

Kenny was able to order me some pederson cleaner shrimp. Unfortunately mine went missing after 3 days in my seahorse tank. It was pretty small so I suspect my seahorses may have nipped at it thinking it was food. I may try them again and grow them out in an acclimation box before introducing them to the display.

Probably would be wrasse food then lol I'll have to move it.
