Transformers 2

So when they make a movie like Friday with Ice Cube, and they actually use black people (not robots), talk about how they can't afford anything, but they have gold chains, they break into houses, live in the ghetto, then that's ok, it's not a racial stereotype, but the minute they make a CG robot do it, it is a racial stereotype that's bad? :D
 
Derek - Bumblebee as a VW would have been awesome, the only reason he wasn't was because they didn't want to pay VW. Whereas Ford paid to be in the movie. I don't mind them changing the characters around much and I don't mind changing story around a little to get something new out of it (like Star Trek) It was more of a lack of story "a tale of a boy and his bot" was never what transformers was about, if they wanted that, they could have remade Giant Robo. I also think Shia LaBeouf is bad and should not be allowed to be the star of movies that I would want to watch :)

Anthony - I am not overly critical, I like to turn off my brain a lot and just enjoy movies, but I don't like bad movies.

Gomer - They did make a Robotech movie it was called Stealth :)
 
I'm with Jeremy, I dislike the audio in movie theaters, I don't care if the sound is coming at me from 37 different directions, the fact some idiot who runs the place thinks louder = better really ruins it. Oh nice loud dialog.... HUGE EXPLOSION.... I can't hear anything said for 30 seconds after...
 
I don't mind that guy, he was funny in Zack and Miri make a porno and Galaxy Quest. He seems to stay in the type of movies I expect him to be in.
 
wow this thread went off when i looked away. going to see it tonight and I wont be tainted by your Jaded view of all thing Hollywood. They know whats best.
 
this is a little late but I saw it in the IMAX at the metreon and that movie was so sick. u guys are crazy to thing it sucked. I grew up watching the old transformers as well and I still enjoyed it. Jetfire in the cartoon wasn't a blackbird, either but nobodys crying about that. as for labeouf. I think he's a good actor. have you seen holes, disturbia, and the show even stevens? He is pretty funny and he knows how to show emotions better than a lot of crappy actors out there. Also soundwave wasn't a boombox. megatron not a gun, bumblebee not a V dub, I mean come on seriously. if the transformers were made like the original cartoons, michael bay would have to bring it back to the early eighties for it to make sense. plus they wouldn't be fighting for the all spark because they used to have energon cubes and they were all over the place. where are all the other transformers like the dinobots, insectacons, and the biggest question there is for me is, where is UNICRON? All in all the movie was entertaining and jammed pack with action. like when the mom ate the weed brownie. classic.

lol, one more thing:
ladouche went to my elementary school. i was in 8th grade when he was in 1st (stupid k-12 schools). he was a little wannabe gangster in oversized clothes. we used to laugh because he'd always try to hit on our girls when he was in 1st grade
 
I saw the characters in question and I really don't know why CG robots acting like most every person in the movie Friday, makes Transformers racist but not Frida (Except Ice Cube, he was bad ass :D)
 
i think it's because there was a point behind the portrayal in friday.

in transformers, i didn't really see the point beyond portraying a stereotype

like gran torino, obviously has racial themes but with a point. like friday, the racial themes are used to show more than just further a stereotype.
