Not recommended on Red Sea tanks

But really any rimless tank I wouldn't consider it from both a structural standpoint and because of the crest of the waves splashing. Nutrient transport mode on the Ecotech pumps mimics this standing wave if you set it right to push detritus to the overflow.

I feel like they do a better job of dislodging detritus than a pulsing wave pump with a jabo or MP. I may just be the few people I have seen using them are just experts at designing their aquarium flow. If you can afford the aquarium space, go for it.

Supposedly Tunze has a new version that just released with the DC nano stream 6055, but I haven't seen it in person yet and can't find any videos on YouTube. This is the wave box 6208 with I assume the AC pump:

Definite noise and I know it can disrupt some overflows with splashing. But I want to see it with the DC pump! @Alexander1312 have you seen any posts while scrolling through German sites?

I have a standing wave in my 6ft tank using Jebaos. I talk about flow a lot in my tank journal and pretty sure there’s a video there.

Not sure why the wave box is even a thing, as regular tunze pumps can also make a wave (I did this in my last tank). You can do it with MP40s as well I believe. Any wave maker that can pulse, basically.

The noise from my Tunze (a few years old not the new Thomas is talking about) I believe is from the very thin flimsy plastic box vibrating.

I saw a clip a few months back with Marco from Marco Rocks showing a new wave box to come out in the future. It was very expensive. I am having a hard time finding it now and don't remember what they were calling it.

Here’s an old video of my tank showing the back and forth motion you get with the wave. Really nice for LPS, and you can even see the fish kinda shift up and down like in the ocean.

I’m reviving this thread! So the Jebao just died. Worked well while it lasted…a whole 6 months!

Anyways, I like the wave action in the tank. So do I buy another cheap pump or just buy once cry once and get a tunze wave box?

I have been running a standing wave with jebao pumps for 2 years - you dont need any 3d printed parts to do it. I’ve never actually had a jebao pump die (including a return pump).

I would take a chance on another jebao, they are tanks. And given the price…it’s hard to justify something 5x the cost.
