"Ultra Committee" for 6/22 Swap

Referencing some of the great discussion after the last swap here: https://www.bareefers.org/forum/thr...-2024-revised-as-of-2-16-25.34392/post-541298

I suggested the idea of a "committee" to determine the Ultra list - with the intent of being as fair, transparent, and collaborative as possible.

How it works:
  1. We start with a "blank" Ultra list every swap.
  2. Users submit Ultra nominations which are tracked in the google sheet here (thanks @dangalang who built it!): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...PgjItzyGfo/edit?gid=1554167020#gid=1554167020 , open for all club members to view at any time.
  3. Members of the ultra committee are required to "vote" on each submission - Ultra, Bonus, none, or abstain.
  4. Any coral that gets a majority of votes qualifies as Ultra (those not qualifying as Ultra can still make the bonus list)
  5. We close submissions 48hrs before the swap and lock in the new Ultra list.
Here's an example, I will be submitting 'Green Hair Algae' and 'GMK' for Ultra consideration:

In this example, 4/5 committee members vote "no" on GHA for ultra qualification. It also did not get a "bonus" majority so it receives no classification at all. GMK, on the other hand, counts as an ultra since 4/5 members confirmed it.

If you are interested in being on the Ultra committee - please let me know publicly in this thread. We can support up to 10-15 people potentially, although I would be surprised if we get that many volunteers. This is open to both BOD and non-BOD. You do not need to be an expert in coral identification - but you should have enough general coral knowledge, some sense of market pricing and rarity, and a sincere interest in the process. There will be no meetings or any other requirements beyond simply staying on top of your duties as a voting member. I will also start a separate group thread for all committee members to share thoughts, ask questions, and collaborate as necessary - but it should be a very simple process.

Tagging some folks who seemed interested in this idea: @Arvin R @Invictus @DaddyHook @B the Nano Reefer @RandyC @SupraSaltyReefer

Once the committee is determined, we'll launch the coral submission process and get moving!

Love it. What's considered bonus/ultra is constantly changing and a comprehensive list of all the ultra-splice-bouncing-holy grail-rainbow corals is nearly impossible so this will help.

I can help with the grading if there's a need.

I’d like to be involved. But only if it’s ok with you and the metrics that I’ll be contributing for the ones I know well, and abstaining from the ones I don’t (which will probably be a lot). If that is an issue, I’m fine sitting it out as well.

Happy to be involved here but to @JVU’s point, is abstaining on a coral by coral basis and option? I am no where near well versed in SPS as some of the folks on here, so would rather abstain from some of the votes then attribute an unfair rank

Absolutely OK to abstain from whatever you want - that's the idea!

Looking like we are getting a pretty healthy-sized committee so there will be plenty of votes to a make decision if several people end up abstaining.

Shouldn’t there be an uneven number of committee members? What happens in the event of a tie?
I imagine @IOnceWasLegend would have the final say as frag swap coordinator if that came up. Very unlikely there will be a tie. Almost to the point of worry about it if ever even it happens.

Hard to get 10 people to agree on what time it is let alone a even 5 5 split lol
