UV Sterilizer Question

I have a 57w Aqua UV brand sterilizer that is plugged into my Apex and reading only 22w/.1A on the eb832. I validated electricity draw with a kill-a-watt as well. Is this normal? Shouldn't it be drawing closer to 57w? The unit, ballast, and bulb all say 57w and the bulb is brand new, just received today.

Does anyone else have a UV sterilizer and a 2016 Apex that can check their electricity draw?

Anyone find this weird? Is there something I’m missing or is it false advertising or what?

I sure do. I called Aqua UV a couple days ago to ask about it and they said they couldn't tell me what wattage it's supposed to draw. Not that it's a secret, but that they don't know. I find it incredibly strange and unfortunately I don't think there is a way to validate whether it's effective at reduced wattage.

I'd love to hear from someone who has another of the major UV brands to see if there is a similar pattern.

22W at 0.1 amp? If it's pulling 120V, then 0.1A = 12W, unless you happen to be running 220V to it.

I think the Apex reading drops the next digit. 22w is ~.18A so that's the only thing that makes sense to me.
