What are your thoughts on events?

Do think it would be good to have more events or different types?

Everyone. Throw out some ideas. We don’t need BOD to come up with them. Like Arnold just does it and invites bar to join.
when i was living in san diego, the local club would have monthly meetings at a members house. we would all pitch in a couple bucks to pay for food/drinks and just hang out. i hosted one as a bbq / frag swap and it was good just to hang out and talk.

I would be all for hosting an event at my house during the summer. I have a pretty big back yard with a swimming pool and have a smoker that could fit a couple of tri tips. I know I'm far away for members but I'm down to host.
Awesome! BTW everyone you could combine that with a trip out to central California like Yosemite.

Fyi here is an example on how I did my last precovid event. As I stated anyone can volunteer to setup event/meeting. Remember the BOD are volunteers who have lives outside the club so we just need to be understanding on what they setup for the Club. It's a thankless job. Also there used to be several clubs in the area from Sacramento to San jose around. We are the last one standing from before. Proud of that.

Just a random thought for an event: A coral "white elephant" gift exchange. I was unable to attend the holiday frag swap so not sure how it was structured. My initial thoughts would be to run it like most white elephant exchanges.
Have some food and beverages. Everyone brings what would generally be considered a desirable frag. There is a numerical order to picking. The picking is blind (ie the coral is wrapped or covered by a box so you cannot see what you are getting). No one know what is available (it is a surprise to everyone but the person who brought the frag). The next person has a chance to "steal" the coral or unwrap a new one. Most exchanges limit the stealing to 2 or 3 times before the gift is frozen and can no longer be taken.
I suspect there are some out there that don't want to end up with some random frag, but I think there are others who would be happy with anything as long it is something most would want. I am not sure how the holiday event went or what the quality of frags were like, but probably similar guidelines for the frags.

This is a awesome idea actually, it could work with a few guide lines, so no one brings gsp or xenia lol.

Sounds super fun!!!

whats in the past is the past. i have my own opinions just l like everyone else. members come and go, ignore the ones who wants to start drama, and go on your way. i've seen the uglies and been in the uglies. as long as the club functions and keeps their promise to the mission statement, i am still here.
Sounds like an invitation!!!
