And when folks ask what this is all about, the answer is to move on?
I see and understand both sides to this. On one side I think transparency is important. I for one wanted to know because I bring this club up a lot to people outside of here and sometimes I get negative vibes and I really want to understand why. I’m confident the club now is different than what it was before. But it’d be nice to know the history.

On the other side, this club for the most part isn’t the club it was years ago. So while we didn’t do whatever happened that created all the chaos, in a way we’re linked to it for being part of the club. And I don’t even know what that is. I think that’s why people want to know.

I’ve gone back in the threads and see people who used to be very active who don’t log on anymore. Some of those people I recognize in the Facebook groups. But also that just makes me curious. I know a lot of these people won’t give BAR a second chance. I know I’ve talked to people who have a misconception of BAR but have never been members and aren’t willing to see what it’s about now because of what they’ve heard in the past. I guess I just want to understand why.

What is the general misconception/misunderstanding, and how can we better address or counter that?

I don’t go way back like a lot of you, but things seem pretty chill and straightforward to me, as how things stand now…

Well that’s part of the problem. I don’t even know a lot of the history about why people don’t like us lol. I just know when I bring it up you can see the vibe change. I know the biggest ones are what Christopher mentioned in his group “ without hypocrisy, an overbearing BOD, arbitrary rules that only apply to some people, or excessive post administration”. Someone at CFM said they heard were as*hol*s lol. I hear that people say that members here think they’re above others.

I think within the club the vibe has changed for the better and it’s been pretty smooth. I just wish there was a way to change the perspective of people outside of the club who left for unknown reasons. I like what we did with the anonymous surveys, that’s a good start.

Yeah, everyone I met was so very kind and seemed to want to put others before themself. I'm always excited to tell people about this club even though I am new myself because I know they'll see how nice and welcoming everyone is!

A lot derived around the sales forum. And some people are just keyboard warriors that only take things in the way they want to view it. There are a few crusty crabs here on bar still. But eventually just like every other forum or social platform you learn who is sincere and who is just here to either make money or be the big fish in the tank. A lot of comes down to how each individual processes the information. Maybe it’s a bad maybe that’s who they are never the less it’s just pixels on a screen.

There is no Anti-bar Facebook group. Are you saying that @SupraSaltyReefer is anti bar as well? His group is called Hella salty bay area reefers. Not bar is just distinguishing it's self as being not us. A lot of people thought we were a fb only group.

The AC story was well before my time back when lfs had to pay us a decent amount of money to be "sponsors". It was no longer a good investment for ac to "sponsor" us.

This is not entirely correct, @Srt4eric, so I have to respond.

The group is called Not Bay Area Reefers, link below, and according to its founder, Christopher Rosati, was established as a 'middle finger' to BAR and its rules. I have joined this group previously out of interest what it is about and there are posts in this group from me to better understand the sentiment towards BAR. While Christopher tried to soften the tone, they seemed to be some still negative sentiment. I left this group because the name itself and what it stands for (or stood for) does not resonate with me being in this club.
