Just curious what the largest collection of chalices anybody has come across is? Retail/aquaculture/private hobbyist?
Large pieces are cool, but yeah I’m looking for hobbyists/vendors/museums with large varied collections.I’ve seen large single chalices in tank videos on YouTube but havent seen any large varied collections
Me too...there’s gotta be more out there tho!The biggest collection I’ve seen is in your house!
not yet...When you already have all the chalices...
Hers are better, but I probably have more.@Chromis has a quite a collection, no?
I hear he’s got like 100 different ones...This guy named @Coral reefer
@Coral reefer how many different chalices do you have?? Most of mine are new and on the grow out, or I don’t have time to frag them...
I have a lot of newer ones as well over the last 8 months or so. I am pretty sure I’ve gone over 100. Very close if not there yet.@Coral reefer how many different chalices do you have?? Most of mine are new and on the grow out, or I don’t have time to frag them...
Not true. Vast majority are not in there yet.You can find out easily by looking at his BARCode

They come in basically all combinations of all colors, are pretty easy to frag, not super challenging to grow for the most part, and many can be had for reasonable prices. What makes you like chalices so much?
Wowee!@Coral reefer That’s enough chalices that you might be able to start classifying them as different types/species by observing and comparing them. I think we posted about it before but there isn’t a lot of formal info out there on the different named chalices’ species classification/requirements.
There are a large number of just the named red/blue rainbow chalices out there. I have been collecting some of those to see what the differences are (really) after they are grown in the same tank conditions. So far I can tell you there are at least four truly different colored red/blue chalices. Unless you also count my red/blue/purple rainbow then there are five... I’m agonizing how to cut this to preserve all the colors.

It’s easy enough to cut into the middle with a band saw then make circles. Having thin circular strips might be an awesome way to do it.I’m thinking a hole saw
