What kind of workshops do you all want to have this year? Of course we will always do fragging workshops about a month before we have a swap but what else do you guys want?

Would any of you be interested in running one? In the past @Scott Sweet put on a pretty sweet automation workshop.

We have discussed photo workshops and apex workshops.

Go!!!

Aquascaping workshop. Collect a couple hundred pounds of small/medium dry rock. Bring your own rock. Cement, glue, epoxy, whatever else people use as a best practice to bond rock. Build structures. Take em home. Learn different/best practices.

I think @Coral reefer would be great at running this.

I dont think @Coral reefer place would be the best to hold this event at. Anyone have or know a spot we can host this at? Behind Hightide could work

I haven’t been to a frag workshop in a while, but I think we should start covering containers and labeling if we aren’t already.

Fragging workshops
Photo workshops

^ I agree these are pretty good ideas. Apex workshop doesn't apply to me so I cant really say much about it

DIY cabinetry / stand workshop - I worry about attendance, though - how many people at any given time want to build a stand?

Maybe combine an additional "coral packing" workshop with the fragging workshop - coral shipping or just for frag swaps. It has been a valuable skill to me, let me share corals with people far away

Will post more if I think of them

We did a DIY aquarium cover making workshop a few years ago that was cool. Someone organized buying the stuff, people came with their dimensions and cutouts planned and experienced people helped them make nice covers.

And we’ve talked about having a DIY frozen food making workshop a few times. An experienced person could buy bulk of various types of fish foods from a regular store, then we could mix/chop/whatever to prepare them and freeze them in cubes or flat packs like Rod’s food. I think some members already do this. Club could cover costs probably.

I don’t have any knowledge/experience about either project, but if someone does and wants to run one that would be awesome.

We’ve done Apex workshops when Neptune was local and we had members in the club who worked there. Maybe we still do? Not sure.

Similarly we could have another controller workshop, like Hydros. Maybe Richard @wishtoboutside could teach us about Hydros and answer questions? Or if we have a member expert?

I don't know if it is workshop worthy, but the ins and outs of the rodi system, like what each piece does specifically and how they work could be beneficial. Plus it could motivate people to do the water saver modification with 2 ro membranes.

Also I just snapped the piece that screws one canister directly into the next, so the different style connectors and what they do could be beneficial.

Seems like you know a good deal about rodi systems, maybe you could do a live steam or something if you would be ok in front of a camera?

I would also be intrested in learning more about them.

This is a really good video breaking down RODI systems.

I offered to do this once. Nobody made it happen, including me. @ReyDeFarts might be better tho
