Neptune Aquatics

iCon’s IM 112 EXT Midnight Edition

Found a pair of these in a moving box and finally used them - At least 15 years old!

Once upon a time $50 would have bought more than a few snails!

Shoutout to Neptune & @robert4025

Love the lagoon set up Con. Following along for the progress!
Good to see you’re still around! Hope the fam is well!

Tank has been stable and smoothly chugged crossed the 1-year mark a while back.
  • Survived a couple of 2-week absences, thanks to a cheap auto feeder from Amazon. (Which I found easier to set up than the eheim one).
  • Water changes are down to about once every 6-8 weeks, if that.
  • Lost the white tail tang and possibly sunburst anthia due to a rogue melanarus.
  • The OG CSB is up to about 14” when opened and just started walking around after a year of being in the same spot, forcing me to get my hands wet. Have been tempted to cut, but lazy…
  • Still no dosing
  • Still no CaRx
  • Still have one gigantic trochus which is the size of my palm (lost one before the move). Pretty sure it’s one of my original snails from 2007-2010 range.
  • Haven’t added any corals or fish
  • Waiting for the next colony drop from @boun11
  • Ok - I’ll do a water change now!

I'll visit soon with some corals it seems some of the SPS I gave you are doing well. I need to get your volleyball size gold hammer out of my tank

Post annual coral drop off from the East Bay!

Even got my hands wet twice, did another water change, and cleaned some of the glass - Atypical overachiever day! o_O

LF:
Wrasses
More Wavy hammer/spawn n00b corals :)

Had to adjust Tonga island due to walking nem. Don’t have it in me to break the Tonga branch, so it’s further from the corner than I’d like, but good enough!

More delivery in a year? lol

Side note as I recalled someone asking about rockscapes (or do we call them aquascapes?) and such...

The best and perhaps most efficient thing you can do is create several structures outside of the tank (or buy them from @Coral reefer) and layer/stack/position them strategically in your tank. This way you're guaranteed to have tunnels, overhangs, caves, and all those other great features without relying on balancing rocks and trying to putty them together haphazardly.

The top down shot captures some of this in the current tank, but it's incredibly dynamic and fun to see the fish swimming about. Lots of tunnels, no dead spots, no rock wall, no awkward man-made looking structures, etc. (Minus the weird forced inclusion of tonga branch!)
