It's that time again! I have two asks of our members:

  1. Please start submitting Ultra corals for committee voting at the google sheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...PgjItzyGfo/edit?gid=1205773903#gid=1205773903

    • 1757095309551.png
  2. Let me know if you'd like to volunteer as a committee member for Ultra voting. I've also pinged the original thread to see if any members of the committee would like to return for this swap

Thanks to @dangalang for updating the ultra list tracker linked above - there's a new blank tab for 11/2 that's ready for submissions, though the list of committee members may change.

You can find more info on how this process works here: https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/ultra-committee-for-6-22-swap.38374/

Guys consider volunteering to sign up for the ultra coral voting committee. This would be a great way to get more involved. Based on my experiences from last swap this is a fairly easy process with a meager time commitment. I would also point out that you don't need to be some crazy know every coral name guru. If you know general coral types (lps, softy, zoanthids, sps) and have a a basic knowledge of coral and what would make them stand out from the more common and readily available coral you could do this.

Heck I had to google 80% of the coral names that were submitted last time.

I don't mean to twist any arms but it would be nice to see some addtional members step up and volunteer. This is a easy way to get involve.

@derek_SR has made the voting process fairly straight forward so please give it some consideration.

If you don’t know the industry name, just describe it (green acropora, red mushroom). If you bought it named you can note that it was once named, the vendor name if you can remember, or post and ask for guesses

If you don’t know what type of coral it is you can post the picture and ask for ID

@dangalang You have orange splatter hammer? That's cool, do you have pictures? I'm not sure if I've seen one before

Also, if you would like, I can frag up your LPS colonies for you

I noticed a Zoa in the ultra list. If anyone has a ultra zoa, they should put it in my tank. I grow them like weeds.

Updated the initial post w/ the current list of confirmed Ultra corals - still voting!

Some interesting items that have fallen to bonus and will NOT be Ultra this swap:

Oregon Tort (too many at last swap prob?)
GMK Zoa (definitely too many at last swap)
JF Fox Flame (!?)
ARC Master Yoda / RR Rainbow Loom
Sunkist Bounce Mushroom
PC Rainbow
BC Bubblebath Unicorn (!?)
Palmer's Blue Mille

For the entries with "mini colony", or the multi-head torches:

How should other hobbyists interpret it? If I have a Dragon Soul torch (ultra) but it's not "2-3 heads +", is it ultra? bonus? not worth any ticket?

I think those ones are worth revisiting with a "standard frag" entry

Then go ahead and enter it in the sheet for us to vote on it :)

I suspect something like a single head of dragon soul or green and purple frog spawn will not get confirmed as ultra - but won’t know unless we vote

Yea I think it would vary by torch type. Yet I agree with Derek if i was voting a single head dragon soul pretty common yet highly desirable i would think bonus.a dragon soul with multiple heads could increase its value or desirability- that's why submission to be voted would be a good idea.

I believe Oregon Tort remains an ultra. The vote is 6-2 in favor.
