Just added a Hydros start for more stability. I was using the Kasa powerstrip to control my ATO on/off before my scheduled AWC every morning, but sometimes it didn't turn off. This created 2 instances where I had to raise the salinity that lasted for like 3-4 weeks.

  • Hydros Start
    • Skimmer level sensor
    • Float switch to turn off AWC if draining doesn't stop
    • Leak detector to turn off pump + UV when it senses water
    • Control of ATO, UV sterilizer pump, fish food feeder
    • Monitor Temp

Looks good. Very clean build.

I found GHL fans get loud after a while if you dont get the dust out of them. Compressed air cans have worked wonders for me.

How long did it take for you to grow that hammer?

Added a Swallowtail Angel fish and a baby Biota Golden Lined Rabbitfish. Didn't do my research on the rabbitfish when I bought it. It will be too big for my tank in the future.

Added another Swallowtail, however she was a little beat up. Hopefully, she will recover. Hoping for the other Swallowtail to morph into a male.

Just did some chemistry testing.

1/4/26
  • Alk 7.9
  • Nitrate 6.5
  • Phosphorus > 200 ppb (greater than analytical measuring range). I measured twice to rule out random error.
    • was 20 ppb on 12/16/25
Recently, I was feeding heavy and dosing NH4 to increase my nutrients. I also added some dead rock from my old tank that was sitting in a closed bucket. It was bleached and cleaned about a year ago.

Corals are fine and are growing. Alkalinity consumption has increased slightly. There is algae growth, but I think it is normal. I guess i'll feed less to slow down my nutrient import. I had my auto-feeder feed 3x daily on a 2 minute feed + my manual feeding of frozen mysis. I've turned it down to 30 second feed after seeing that high phos reading. Feeding heavily really increases nutrients..lol. I'm already doing a 1.4% daily AWC (30-40%/month). I think I can control my nutrients by feeding less.

Gonna test again next weekend.

Also, added an airline from my skimmer to the outside to help with pH. I should have done this a long time ago like I did with my previous tanks.

Looks like you are using an Avast Plank as your auto feeder, are you feeding pellets with it?

Phosphorus dropped to 147 ppb (0.451 ppm Phos) from > 200 ppb after decreasing feedings on the auto fish feeder and skimming more wet. Nitrate 5.6. Gonna slightly increase the NH4 dosing.

So sad... I was moving the rocks around and my giant torch colony fell over and made frags.

Tank is 11 months old.
Added a Merlin's Staff from DBTC and a newly cut frag of PC Rainbow from a local reefer.
