    Split cost for calcium chloride

Not really, no. Besides, you coming to me for it, the gas (and maybe bridge toll?) would be a wash for any savings.

    Split cost for calcium chloride

I'm good thanks, I bought a 35lbs bucket of Fritz sometime last year, it was a a bit cheaper than the BRS stuff at the time, but BRS was having major shortages and was only selling 1 gallon bags worth of it, so I did plan-b.

    Split cost for calcium chloride

I would not use road deicer as a calcium supplement, that was something that was done way back when in the hobby when there was no calcium chloride on the market. There just are too many impurities that can potentially go in it. Yes it's cheap, but in the grand scheme of things it's...

    Coral issues, browning, stning, etc.

I would like to say it is, but honestly, I don't know for certain as I don't have a controller that monitors/records the temp, just a standard temp controller (not one built into the heater).

    Coral issues, browning, stning, etc.

yeah this browning is definitely a thing, and relatively new too. The lights are on the AB+ schedule, which I think is something like blues/violets 100% and then whites 24% all relative to max intensity which was at 35 now I dropped it to 28% The rocks were super sun bleached and dry as dry...

    Coral issues, browning, stning, etc.

Well after that mismatch of readings with the red sea test kit I might be questioning some of those values, although this was literally clean salt water, and the only nutrients other than amino acids I've put in come from the dead flesh of corals that died, or possibly some algae that dies...

And of course another problem... check the alk with a Hanna auto checker, 8.9. Used the Red Sea test kit 6.3, granted the Red Sea one is a bit on the old side, but COME ON! Reefing gods are just screwing with me now.

    Coral issues, browning, stning, etc.

Yeah I thought about the RO/DI system too, the resin still looks good to go color wise, but the fact I don't remember when I last changed the blocks kind of worries me but all the filters still look spangly white no browning on the sediment filters at all. Maybe I'll do that as well. This...

    Coral issues, browning, stning, etc.

Hmm, I'm not trying to do ultra low nutrients, but I'll see about letting the alk get back down to 7. See how quick it drops with no more kalk dosing for now. I'm weary to do a water change because I think the salt mixes to more than 7dkh, so it really won't help. Other than the return...

    Coral issues, browning, stning, etc.

So I've had a frag tank setup (40B) after I shut down my tank, and had a few corals go wonky, but now I'm seeing a big wonk happening and have no idea what's going on. So a some acros are STNing, it's not fast but over a period of a few days poof all white. Now one of my larger colories a...

    Painting Light Fixture

I assume the "case" is aluminum? In which case you definitely want to use primer, and aluminium tends to be very smooth so you'll need a way to etch into the surface. But in general google how to paint aluminum there's plenty of resources out there that I don't really need to regurgitate

    Ashburn's 187g endgame II

Looks smooth too, not the textured surface that you typically see from 3d printed stuff

    Acan stung by chalice

"acans" (i.e. micromussa lords) really don't have a terribly powerful "gut barfing" skill set, sure they will kill sps that falls into it no problem, but against other LPS they really aren't high on that scale... now acan echinata... they'll outsting aiptasia!

    Get ornamental

Well depending upon how much work you want to put into it. You could 3d print what you want, create a silicone mold negative of that, then a wax mold of that, do a sand casting negative of the wax, then melt the wax out and pour in molten metal and WAM! Hood ornament (in need of some...

    Randy’s venture into salt water.

Definitely sucks. My only advice, since there is lots already, is to learn from this, try to figure out what happened, and don't let it happen again. If you had a major crash and lost all your corals you don't go rush out to buy a bunch of corals because "oh damn guess I got to start over"
