    Dealing with hair algae

Urchins, emerald crabs, turbos have helped in the past for me - spending the time to do as much manual cleanup makes a big difference. Turbos and urchins will continuously knock over anything that isn't nailed down, so be ready to put stuff back daily. Algae scrubber or chaeto reactor could...

Need Some Drain & Sump Wisdom

Yeah there are EU/metric sizes as well, here’s a cheat sheet that shows min/max sizes for imperial vs metric: https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/content/post/how-to-properly-install-a-bulkhead-in-your-aquarium

Need Some Drain & Sump Wisdom

I was thinking the same, 1” for primary drain, 3/4” for secondary (herbie) and the other 3/4” for return if you aren’t “too worried” about flow. Otherwise you could cap it (or do bean as mentioned) and y the return with hob returns on either side as shown above.

    Other reef clubs

There are a few local FB groups, but they don’t really organize large frag swaps, though some of the local shops will do VIP type things, it’s usually more one to one sales/trades/help/advice etc. Quite a few people here are in the same FB groups I am.

How to limit unwanted coral growth

Kalk paste as well, but you have to be conservative with either, never twice within a 24 hour period or you will definitely see some hefty swings (I do the same, target suction and a small 2-5% water change following the dose). Using both right now to reign in an aptasia outbreak, and some of...

SupraSaltyReefer - ELOS 120XL and then some

Oooh I’m gonna have to come over so I can drool over the new tank and all the fishies! You’ve been quite the busy with new tanks and livestock lately!

Moving a waterbox Infinia 215.5 from Vacaville to Castro Valley… help? Lol

See? There he goes again! He probably just painted another stick figure fish with a big red X through it on his tank to signify yet another reefer he talked in to becoming a member. But seriously, glad to have you as a part of the group, welcome!

Nori feeder… what do you use?

Yeah, it’s probably just me worrying about things that don’t need to be worried about ;) I generally over feed - so try to be conscientious about what I leave sitting in there long term(ish) as I don’t always take care of it daily. Hell maybe once or twice a week to be honest!

Nori feeder… what do you use?

I have this one as well, it’s OK. I’m not a fan of all the stuff that gets trapped inside - you have to scrub and rinse it every day otherwise you’ll have a bunch of decay in the tank if you slack off. Also forces the fish to compete for space and potentially get aggressive as with even a clip...

Moving a waterbox Infinia 215.5 from Vacaville to Castro Valley… help? Lol

Actually that’s how I ended up becoming a supporting member! EricSRT yelled at me on Facebook when I was complaining about it, also again when Tu was asking for us to share fun or new builds and I mentioned I would start a build thread on r2r. He basically bullied me into joining. We should put...

    Large 3D scanning and printing?

Take a look on Facebook marketplace, there’s definitely a local hobbyist doing this stuff for fun/on the side. Unfortunately the only guy I know for something that size is in Texas, so it’d be up to you to get him the dimensions, but I can put you in touch if needed, he might have better ideas...

Moving a waterbox Infinia 215.5 from Vacaville to Castro Valley… help? Lol

I recently picked up a 150g with a (very large and heavy) solid wood custom stand with hood, sump, etc.. I’d definitely recommend the small apartment size UHaul, this stuff typically ends up taking a LOT more space than you anticipated. Two of us were able to move it without suction cups, but...
