The only one needed for functionality is the gate valve. Looking back at the original bean animal writeup the ball valves (he had one on his emergency drain as well) were "for versatility if needing to isolate the lines"
Newer diagrams seem to only have the gate valve
Added liability.
I'm not sure why the beananimal setup normally has that. I literally never touched it on my last tank, so I didn't install one on my current tank.
Have you had any parameter swings? Like a temp swing in the last couple days of heat? My experience with birdsnest is they are super sensitive to temp swings....
I hate to be that guy, but I would redo that stand while you still can... Looks like it's already sagging in the middle
Also hard to tell in the pics but the top sheet and the shelf looks like mdf board, I would switch to plywood if they are.
Did any come off in the dip? Its hard to tell what anything is in your video and pics. The small brown spots look like baby polyps forming. The bigger thing looks more like part of the large polyp. Flatworms should pretty readily fall off in a dip.
I believe the industrial ones like randy mentioned "self calibrate" by taking the lowest reading over a period of time and assuming that is ~400. I'll have to look back, when I set mine up I remember reading about that. They assume it's in an office building what is mostly vacant over a weekend...
It said green pocillopora from @Arvin R .... Which I don't think is right.. I think it looks like a monti spongodes, but that's also what the one below it is (5th pic)...
A mix of swap frags and dbtc.
This one was the surprise of the swap for me. Looked like just a plain blue SPS shoved in a tiny container. I think I picked it up as a "grab something at the buzzer" in the 3rd round. Really came alive under lights!
Everything was healthy and pest free as...
Fish: I do Tank transfer method with H2O2 dips and general cure as prescribed by humble fish.
Corals: I cut off anything I can that is not living tissue. I try to encapsulate any remaining rock/skeleton with glue (within reason.) They get a dip and then go into fishless frag tank. I try to...
The lifeguard bulkheads have worked well for me in the past.
When I got generic pvc bulkheads in the past I had the issue described in the OP. Small leak and threads that slip.
