    Kinetic ELOS 120XL

Status update: ELOS Still no Quiet Drain 3 instructions. I've asked nicely once a week with zero response. Still waiting on the stand to ship with the right screws I sent the overflow lids back, including the one that fits but needs to be replaced since it came fairly damaged. Still no...

    Salty_Taste650: Innovative Marine 14Gal Peninsula

I've found it pretty difficult to grow macros in a pretty well established tank. There's just too much other algae and stuff taking up all the nutritent. I've had success with Chaetogro, not so much iodine. Just note, chaetogro can also bump up all the other algae and other nuisances as well.

Any houseplant experts? Monstera Albo and Variegated Ficus Triangularis in a terrarium?

Actually... grow light is a full spectrum LED and it's on an old Apex Jr ;) I also have my humidifier connected to an Neptune RO solenoid that's attached to my RODI system and gets refilled every day automatically with all my Neptune OS-1 sensors. It's all parts left over from my Reefer 170...

Any houseplant experts? Monstera Albo and Variegated Ficus Triangularis in a terrarium?

The monstera is doing well in my office with a humidifier, steady around 65% RH! I placed the ficus triangularis in a little IKEA "greenhouse" that I modified, and it's usually around 80% humidity. Monstera Albo: Corner of my home office with a 20watt growlight (I've since moved the light...

Reefer stand help needed (was Reefer gap)

It's great that you took the precaution with the stand! Glad you got it figured out. It's been 5+ years, but I think my plumbing might have had the same little "mark" on the threading (and I had no issues with it). I have all my plumbing sitting in the garage right now, so I'll take a look in...

    Fish ID: Magnificent fox face?

I talked to @under_water_ninja at some point and he's very willing to help get a hold of something and even run it through QT for you. That's the route I'm going for my upcoming fish list. Happy to pay a local fish store (especially when they do things right).

    Reuse from tank with dinos

Haha yes! It wasn't pretty and lost all my corals. I actually beat it with NoPox (the bacteria beat out everything else) at first, but that wasn't great nor sustainable, because as soon as I let up, dinos would come roaring back. Ultimately I identified them correctly as the Osteropsis (sp?)...

    Kinetic ELOS 120XL

Alright, I just got rid of the UV from this plan for now (I will create a separate plumbing for it, though I may just use Murlock to connect that up with a VarioS-2). The below is the return, drain, and emergency drain. I put a bunch of unions everywhere just in case, but let me know if I won't...

Ah that makes sense. So it's only 5 inches from a small area, otherwise there's plenty of space

    Kinetic ELOS 120XL

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I agree it's too complicated, which is why I posted it. This was an accumulation of all the feedback I've gotten put into one place, and looking at it after I did that really showed that it may be way too much. Here's the suggestions I had gotten: Run it in...

    Kinetic ELOS 120XL

Plumbing got really complicated on the return. In order to run the UV in parallel with my return, this is what I came up with... but not even sure if it's going to work. So many check valves and other crap. I think this is too complex and won't work. How can I make it simpler?

Where to find 1 1/4" threaded to 1" slip reducing bushing?

I was looking at their pricing, it's pretty expensive for something like a 3/4" union ($30). Is that right? And they also don't have what I need. I know I can get a thread to slip adapter, but it would be best to have both happening at the same time. That's why I'm looking for a reducer that...

Where to find 1 1/4" threaded to 1" slip reducing bushing?

Anyone have a good go-to place for plumbing pieces? I need a 1 1/4" male thread to 1" slip reducer. Like this, but the 1" is a slip conversion rather than a thread: https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/bres-schedule-80-reducing-bushing-thread.html

    Arvin's wife's 25g lagoon tank

You'll love the VarioS pumps. I actually have a spare in perfect condition with all original box/hardware if you're looking for a backup ;)

    Richie's Reefer 500

How close to the wall is the tank? I would recommend at least 5-inches. My peninsula will be about 8" from the wall. Even though it seems like a lot, I just know I'll regret it one day.

    Reuse from tank with dinos

If you want to avoid dinoflagellates, know you may eventually get it still. The idea is to build up enough biodiversity and all that jazz before dinoflagellates can come in and take over. But if you mix anything from the two tanks, you're going to introduce it early. Even taking a glass scraper...

Red Sea Valve Swap -- Gate vs Diaphragm -- Opinions?

Swap it for a gate valve. It's not worth all the trouble dealing with their diaphragm valve.

    Kinetic ELOS 120XL

OK, I have made a few revisions to the sump. Instead of going full rimless with 3/4" walls, I'm going to go with some bracing. The bracing will help with plumbing/cable/dose/probe management. It could also be a pain in the butt if things move, but I think it should be OK. These are just my...

    Earthquake San Jose?
