    Room Smells like Skimmer Cup

Lots of good suggestions already. Not having the skimmer pump connected to a switch that will turn off when the skimmate container reaches a certain point makes me nervous - that just seems like a point of failure bound by Murphy's Law. Draining the sump into the floor (regardless of...

Anyone Up for Lazy Bear This Saturday, Sep. 7th?

BAR representing at Dessert First come May(-ish) 2014! Gotta have some way to counteract all the salt running through our veins. ;) If you ever want to give it a shot, please let me know if I can be of assistance. :)

    Easiest mixing salt!

Thanks for the write-up, John! I've heard a harrowing story about the long-term effects of breathing in particulates from salt mixes, and make sure I wear a respirator when making saltwater with "conventional" salt. Were you able to test the water parameters?

My wife found a taker for the reservation - sorry if you were thinking of going, Steve. I might be able help you get reservations there for another day. :) Haute cuisine is over my head, though it can be fun to see what the chefs come up with. Regardless of restaurant, my favorite courses...

Anyone Up for Lazy Bear This Saturday, Sep. 7th?

Need to give up a reservation for 2 persons at Lazy Bear in SF this Saturday. Since it's one of those reservations available only through a lottery system, just wanted to check if any BAR foodies are interested in taking these before they are returned to the restaurant. Saturday, 9/7, at 7:30...

    Biopellets

IMO the risks outweigh the benefits when it comes to biopellets, and as far as I am aware there has been no controlled experiment to show whether they work as promised. @pixelpixi have you looked into sulfur denitrators? From what I've seen they require less maintenance and has less potential...

    bondolo's defunct tanks

Has it been definitively established that FW Exit's active ingredient is Levamisole? When I checked a couple years back there were plenty of educated guesses pointing in that direction, but Salifert wasn't telling and nobody had done a lab analysis. My own experience with FW Exit was mixed...
