    Alk consumption gradually decreasing ..

I am also in camp GFO. If it is true that it (significantly) reduces trace elements, then this sudden removal should impact the corals' ability to photosynthesize, hence their alk consumption until this is adjusted. Some of the traces (e.g., fluoride) seem to protect corals from the negative...

Alex’s Red Sea Reefer Nano (28-gallon)

Took a while to get there but this is how I envisioned what I wanted to do. Now need water, light and flow in order. All are not optimal. They have different sizes, and he can make all sizes if the ones shown are not available. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1124746804/

Alex’s Red Sea Reefer Nano (28-gallon)

Very happy with the progress we made yesterday despite Saturday being weekly water change day for the IM 150. Now need to check the PAR at each level and start building out the coral collection.

Medium feels too small though. Will need to get them in large . Very good to handle rock with vermited snails. No chance for them to pierce through. https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-21080-M/Chemical-Resistant-Gloves/Showa-Atlas-772-Chemical-Resistant-Nitrile-Gloves-Medium?FromOrderHistory=Y

PIF - small rocks for nano tank in operation for approx 2 years - Walnut Creek

Removed today all rock from the nano and have a BRS bucket full of rock with tons of live on them, corals, brittle stars sponges, but also tons of vermited snails. It will not last long in there so if anyone has interest, need to decide quickly.

Alex’s Red Sea Reefer Nano (28-gallon)

It isn't easy to get this live rock, but I got 10 lbs recently. However, looking at the ammonia level, I might not use as much for the nano tank but rather replace some rock from the main display tank and move them to the nano and add the new live rock to the main display. I assume the ammonia...

Alex’s Red Sea Reefer Nano (28-gallon)

This tank now gets hopefully transformed into a full frag tank. I have all I need, sand, new live rock, frag racks with different heights. Everything in this hobby is very (!) time consuming…

    Kenny's swag on reef builders

Very prominent influencer producing (hopefully free) advertisement. Well done! However, I found Reef Bum’s statement of Kenny’s shop being one of the top 3 LFS in his last show even more impressive (I'm not sure if many people watched this, though, since it is a 5-plus-hour stream, but he makes...

Vermited snails I have always had a few vermited snails in this tank, which I inherited from the previous nano tank, but I was able to contain them rather effectively. However, a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a greater number of little ones, but I did not know the root cause. I noticed some...

(New) Quanta Lights (ATLAS, Helix) controlled by a Hydros Controller

There is no light acclimation feature built into the Hydros software - is this correct?

    Thomas' CADE Reef 1500 S2

Me too. It's the only fish I would still like to have in my tank at this point.

PIF - small rocks for nano tank in operation for approx 2 years - Walnut Creek

Please refer to the post below for details. I will need these gone in the next couple of days since I will be getting my new rocks tomorrow. They have Vermited snails and phosphates on and in them, and were originally Caribsea rocks Post in thread 'Alex’s Red Sea Reefer Nano (28-gallon)'...

Alex’s Red Sea Reefer Nano (28-gallon)

This skimmer died now - I assume the pump only - and I am glad I bought the same one again during the sale, which is dead silent. CoralVue support claimed that the noise I reported in the initial video was ‘normal’, (it was not), and I just sent them another video where you can clearly hear...

    AVAST Plank Feeder Q&A

The dosing aspect is actually a great idea.

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

Yeah, but due to the BOLUS/SOLUS principle of starting off with 120% of the desired light intensity for the first two hours.

    AVAST Plank Feeder Q&A

I would also not be fan of moving the feeder to the sump for the stated reasons. I am also intentionally running the return pump at a very low setting so I am not sure if this would then pull in all the pellets. Still, an interesting idea but it seems to create more problems than it solves.

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

Yes, both the ATLAS and Helix are ramping down (there is only a 5-minute ramp-up!) via the Hydros 0-10V controller. This works very well, but compared to the Reefis, which ramp down to a very low-intensity setting, the Helix (and the ATLAS) turn off rather abruptly. I might need to speak to Luca...
