14 gallon bio cube frag tank

well i bought a running 14 gallon bio cube today for my frags i wanna grow out of my tank.... i will also house 2 clown fish and a lil red algae and chaeto....

i will be designing an led retrofit for the hood so i can have all led lights on both tanks... what i need to know is what are you guys using for filter systems for the bio cubes???

simple mods I did on my BC14

1) replaced the pump with a MJ900 (more efficient and more flow)
2) hydor (helps to prevent stagnant sections)
3) enlarged the overflow from chamber1 to chamber 2 (seemed to help with flow)

a bit more elaborate but
4) convert center chamber into fuge by scraping off the paint on the back and installing a light, then full back with chaeto.

I used C1 for chemicals like carbon, and for the heater

After that, i was just WC. I did a 5g jug a week on it.

All great suggestions. I added an InTank media basket and underwater lights to make a fuge. Forget about using the stock filter cartridges. Run filter floss on top of the media basket (2nd chamber) and carbon and chaeto in the media basket.

Also cut out the notch to increase flow to the 2nd chamber:

I put the heater in the 3rd chamber and took out the sponge filter. I keep the filter pad with carbon in the 1st chamber.

I don't like the heater in the 3rd chamber because its water level drops and isn't (at least in my setup) "full". When water drops to expose a heater, bad things can happen.

I keep the heater in the 3rd chamber. Its water level is the same as the main tank, so always full.
