The fungia thing was very cool. I've been thinking about frag plugs all morning.
definately. I'll be doing it for sure. It would be cool if we get a handful of people trying it out to share success/failures stories. Fungia typically aren't propagated in trade, so opening up that avenue would rock.

Haven't found the articles I ran across previously, but here is some interesting reading.

http://www.int-res.com/articles/meps/134/m134p179.pdf

And this search is a good start for tracking down related info.

:D

There's a dab of glue from the plugs to the base of the coral. Planning on ripping it off like a band-aid and hopefully some tissue will come along w/the plug.

Haha...

Let's put together a project team for this.

We could use some people to go through the published research to pull and categorize relevant articles.

Also some experimenters/propagators.

And a few people to draft an article on our findings.

YAY!!!

Be sure to reference all that have done this in the past if you write an article. It's been done ;) (hint: check public aquariums)

As long as they're not claiming to have invented the technique, or trying to patent it I doubt they need to reference everyone who's done it before them. I mean if they got the idea from someone then yeah, but many times in every industry multiple people come up with a way to do something independent of each other, and maybe years apart. (hint: Often those that do it first are hesitant to post their results)

I think you utterly missed my point. Point was other have done it so it's best to also reference them so you do not have to re-invent the wheel. It will also give the trial some other options to try ;) I'm not saying reference them for any other reason other then to ADD to the trial and article.

(hint: it's been written up Mike. One just needs to locate it ;) )

Gotcha... although why write an article at all if it's been done written up before? And simply saying "go look at XXXX magazine" makes for a lousy article.

Not saying that either. I am saying reference what they did, IE. "xxx tried using bits of epoxy embedded into the flesh and found...."

I was under the assumption Norm knows a method that works, and he'd simply write an article off that more so than trying to do a 'research' type article.

I'll just stop this back and forth right here and say you're right Mike. I have no idea why I even posted at all, sorry.

I'm pretty sure that a how-to on a known method would be fine by Jim.

And if we come up with any cool new stuff, that's probably ok too :D
