Icp cant show chloramine. Only the elements, but if I have zero Cl then I can’t have any Clhoramine.
Regardless I tested the water after the carbon blocks and all chloramine is removed from them.
most ICP tests are only calibrated to test free chlorine only..They need to add another calibration to test for the combined molecule ammonia which makes up chloramine. So its normal for icp test to show zero chlorine even though chloramines are present in the sample. TDS meters in the same boat don’t show either even with zero tds. A simple chlorine test kit from Leslies Pool Supply or HD will not show chloramines only chlorine..However a total chlorine test kit also sold will show chloramines since its looking for that specific combination of molecules.
Chlorine listed on an icp test is actually chloride which is one of the most bountiful ions in the ocean. Im far from a chemist so please let me know if Im off base just familiar testing regular freshwater pools adding chlorine and also saltwater pools that convert salt into chlorine via electrolysis..You would think by now reefer icp tests would add chloramines but maybe since these test kits are cheap readily available?
Also you will get alot more bang for your buck adding a whole home water filtration kit made to reduce chlorine & chloramines.. For around 500 you can add an catalytic gac water canister filter good for 450,000 gallons of water bonus for cooking and showering..
