High Tide Aquatics

Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

Move down here was good and i've been checking out the local stores to see which ones i feel are worth going back to. Yeah I have the tank already just looking for a sump already know what size haha and im ordering my skimmer tomrrow then one day get my T5 lights. But hey i do have 2 400 watt blue wave ballast and retro fit cords and i know you would put lumenbrights reflectors. Im selling them cheap lol. just a thought haha

Which stores did you checkout ?
What size sump are you going with ?
What skimmer and T5's are you going with ?

Thanks for the offer on the blue wave ballast, but I'm leaning towards the coralvue or lumatek ballast.

ive checked out all the stores in the san jose area then ive been to the ones in milipitas and to ultimate aquarium on san fran size(never go there again) The stores i like so far in no particular order are atlantis aquarium, neptune aquatics, aquatic collection, and the one on king i think its ocean treasures. I still want to go to more but always run out of time haha.

m going with a 40 gal long tank for my sump/ fuge the design will be return section in the middle.
and
im getting the new SWC 160 cone skimmer, ive always wanted a cone and ive seen the results of this one and im happy. Plus i dont plan on upgrading for a long time.

im going with the Tek elite 8 bulb and I already know the bulb layout its just on the other forums haha.

Wow,

You sure get around. I think you have quite a bit to choose from in the south bay. I made a 40 gallon long sump w/fuge for my old 75 gallon. The tank I bought at a garage sale for 15 bucks, 4 pieces of glass cut and polished for baffles for 20 bucks, & a tube of silicone was 5 bucks. Total spent was 40 bucks and I had a nice custom sump.

Here's a pic':

I'll be interested in checking out your thread when you get it going. ;)

Thanks and yeah ive been checking craigslist and everywhere for the tank cause i really dont want to buy a new one to much money lol. And im waiting some time before i start my thread basically just waiting for some stuff to get in and once i find the right spot in my house for the tank(more like wife lol haha)

Bah, wife's approval often is quite inconvenient in this hobby! That's why I have a little 20g tank I really don't want to have setup with a 12" tall leather toadstool in it... brown kind, not even the neat green polyped one.

I got a chance to finish up the electrical for the tanks. I added 15 additional outlets for the main display, frag tank, fuge, & qt. Now I have to rock it and cover the rock w/FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic). I found a place in SSF that sells 4'x8' sheets for 30 bucks. Anybody know of anyplace that has a better price ?

I finished the manifold the other day. It has five 1 1/2" outlets that will probably be reduced to one 1". I'm thinking of using the new Oceans Motions omniflex nozzles. The flow can be fine tuned by the 5 tru unions ball valves which can be broke open for easy service.

Man looking good, but i think im catching up and about to pass you on the builds haha. But i didnt have to add any outlets just changed one. All i need now is some water/ rock/ and sand. And ill be cycling O and some bulbs.

The omniflex nozzles tent to get loose and come apart in time, lockline might be the wise choice.

Hmmm....I thought these were the new ones to replace the Loc-Line versions ?

Looking good!
No GFCI's?
Thanks Jon,

I do have all the outlets tied into GFCI's. I have four 20 amp dedicated circuits for the tanks, but I'm still concerned about five 400 watt metal halides possibly tripping one of the GFCI's. I can always swap it out if that's a problem.

How's that netting over the tank working out for you ?
