Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

WAF = Wife Acceptance Factor

One of the best talks I have seen in years was by Sanjay and was mainly on WAF

Now that's a talk I'd pay good money to hear ! If you can just get your significant other to like something in your tank (example a fish)...you are in like fin. ;)

What is this? An episode of This Old House? Make with the tank :D

Hey Mike...I have to cool the tank somehow ! And I'm a Bob Villa type of guy myself. ;)

Jim
gah.. Bob Villa, best thing I remember from his show was him talking with the contractor mentioning how "This was a nice climbing ivy" all the while touching it and the guy replying "Umm, that's poison ivy Bob"

Well you won't have any problems cooling an empty tank ;)

unless of course she names it and give it the kiss of death or for that matter it is the crappiest coral in your tank and you are stuck with it.

I like his cameos on "Home Improvement" the best.

Bryan...that sounds like from personal experience. :p

Definitely a nice looking setup.
Serious envy --- until I get my new big tank of course --- which is going frustratingly slow.
A couple of quick questions on that track:

1) Do you like the full 1" thick front?
Any real noticeable loss in visibility?
I am having a terrible time deciding on acrylic thickness.

2) Did you deal directly with Kritter, or through a LFS?
And if LFS, who?

Thanks!

Sadly.... yes on both accounts. The red monti cap from hell is finally gone from my tank though. It "accidently" broke into pieces. clumsy me

Now how can I get that friggin maroon clown out of my tank and still look myself in the mirror..... hmmmm

I'm sure if you buy Jeremy a 6-pack he'll get it out for you and you'll sleep like a baby. ;)

Hey Mark,

1) I initially went with the 1" acrylic on the front b/c of the possibility of "bowing." Ultimately, the 2" tubular steel took care of that problem. I haven't noticed a difference between 3/4" and 1".

2) I dealt directly with Gen at Krittertanks and would recommend him.

You're doing a 250 right ? What dimensions are you thinking ?

Yes.
Planning 88" long, 28" wide, 24" tall.
Since it is only 24" tall, I am really deciding between 1/2", 5/8" (if anyone uses that), and 3/4".
I really dislike the bowing as well. Partly aesthetics, partly fear.
I figured if 1" is good, then 3/4" will be an non-issue.

I rather your tubular steel top though. Having huge openings is such a win.
More to think about.
Glad I am not in a big hurry.
