The H&S A250 sitting next to its (dirty) lil brother the H&SA110/F2000 which I'll use for the qt. I'm picking up a H&S A250 for the main display. It seems like I'm a rep for H&S skimmers. ;)

Brian (H&S USA) sends his love :D

>> I talked to Gen today regarding my fuge/lids for the qt and light racks. Apperently he's still hard at work on your tank !
Yes, Gen is still working on it. A bit slower than he expected I guess. But no hurry.

>> I take it you're going with the small bio-load and weekly water changes route ? Hey, you and Arnold (Apon) can start a skimmerless tank club...LOL.
Nope, my skimmer-less is heavy bio-load, lots of feeding, and almost no water changes. :~
Not kidding.
About a year ago, I switched to old-school-but-modernized "Algae Turf Scrubber" based filtration.
Basically, you deliberately grow a lot of hair algae on some external screens, and scrape it off weekly.
Hard to set up correctly, and pretty much mandatory to DIY, but if you do, it works great.
Nitrates and phosphates will be zero, no matter what you do.
Lots of pods for coral and fish.
The downside is that you tend to have algae problems in the main tank.
Special site for it.

I've always been intrigued with algae scrubbers, they seem to do the job if set up correctly. Are you setting one up under the stand or outside and plumbing it inside ? I was just going to setup a 40 gal fuge with chaeto and graciella to help keep nutrients at bay.

So do you have a delivery time for the tank ?

Jim

Hi,
I did not want to derail your thread, so I put an update + a big note on turf scrubbers on my thread.

Scrubbers really do work well, but can be a bit tricky to get set up.
They are in the garage for me, but no reason not to put under the tank.
Once up and working, they will easily starve out the cheato in the sump.

Side note:
Changed my mind on the ventilation. I like that bathroom fan from the last page of posts.
I ended up buying a very similar one.

Did you go to House of Fans ? I got mine for like $146.
Nope. Also, I bought a Broan QTXE080
Same specs, except it has a larger 6" exit duct.
Bought it from WAMHomeCenter.com
$103, free shipping, no tax.

I like the bigger diameter to move more air...how many sones is it ?
I talked to Gen and he said you're getting your tank this weekend...congrat's :exmark:

It is 0.3 sones, same as panasonic.
My only concern is the build quality, since it is a bit cheaper.

Yep, should get new tank Sunday at 1:00. Can't wait.
Anyone near Union City / Dumbarton want to help move it?

Jim I kicked myself out of a thread so I'll post it here on your thread.
I have some large Lumenarc reflectors with the AC vent if you want to try them over your tank to see the coverage they provide. I also have one Lumenbrite but I think is a mini.
