Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

I have one that is actually a little stronger. Magnivore 10. Keep away from computers and small children :)

And my old boss... Magnivore had a deal at the tradeshows that they'd give you $100 if you cold separate their largest model... he did... but he ripped them apart and the magnets never budged  The wood just fractured and left the epoxy. They no longer run that contest at shows..

I'll chime in and say yeah run a separate pump. Upside is if they clog (and they probably will) your return flow won't be affected (which can affect a ton of things like how much water goes by your skimmer), and you can always think of the extra pump as being a heater of whatever wattage it is, so the extra electricity aspect actually cancels out :)

Does he rip apart telephone books too ? :p

I was hoping not to use extra pumps, but will look into it. BRS suggested using seperate pumps for the reactors (mj 1200 for the deluxe reactor and a mag 3 or 5 for the jumbo reactor).

Jeremy, you want to add your two cents ?

I was looking into using chemgrate for the rockscaping, but it's just way to pricey. So I'm going back to plan A. I ordered a couple dozen schedule 80 1 1/2" cross tees and will be using it for the rock scaping instead.

I don't see where you couldn't build a manifold to distribute the water to the different reactors, the upside would be that there's lees to go wrong, use gate valves of course to dial in the flow.

I'd be a little leery of using Phosguard though, it works great in FO systems, however, corals don't like it.

Can I use 1/2" ball valves instead for the manifold ?
What do you recommend using instaed of the phosguard ? How's BRS GFO ?

It looks like Christmas came early at your house! whoooo hooo!

I run a manifold off of one of my return pumps(I have 2) for the BRS reactor.
It works just fine. I have to dial it way back so the media does not grind itself up.
I really like having two smaller return pumps instead of one big one for a large tank.
1. If one fails you still have circulation.
2. If the power fails I have a APS that runs just one of them (the smaller one).
3. they don't have to be the same size.
4. when doing a water change I can turn one off and the other one (smaller one)won't cavitate.
5. I can manifold off easily for fuge, BRS reactor, CA reactor.

GFO is much better for corals.

You could use ball valves for sure, you just won't get the precision that you do from gate valves.

Thanks Jon and Jeremy. I'll utilize the return pump and build a manifold for the reactors w/the 1/2" ballvalves I already have. I'll look into the BRS GFO also.

Took me two years to go from 46 to 90 and Jim (gimmito) needs to place a banner outside his place "Grand Opening Soon" and a cool neon sign "Aquarium"

Hey Mario...what do think...neon blue or red for the signs ? lol.

A "Finding Nemo" theme, works for the kids!!

Somebody is sure making some online store happy. :)
Hope you get reward points!

Curious : What is with the 3 ground probes?
Saltwater conducts really well.
Ground probes on different circuits can cause ground-loop current.
Rare in modern houses, but a slight concern.

I got those dirt cheap from a reefer. I probably won't need them b/c I won't have any powerheads to leak electricity in my tank. I'm waiting for some prices on the new Vortech MP60's when they come out.

I'll shoot you a pm on some Fiji live rock from a fellow reefer who is breaking down his tank.

Even with Vortechs, you still have heaters and skimmer pumps. One ground is a good plan.

Dang ... Vortech 60's. Somebody has money burning a hole in their pocket.
The funny thing is: My tank is special made to just fit the alcove in the wall, but I seriously thought
about either making it smaller, or knocking holes in the wall, to fit vortechs. But eventually decided not to.

Cool, Yes, let me know on any live rock plans.
Right now, thinking of just ordering a bunch from marcorocks.

I new there's a reason why I got them...it's been a long day. I still have to order my lights, ballast, & bulbs....do you smell smoke ? I think my pockets are burning again. $)
LMK how those rocks work out.
