Hi All,

Looking for someone who can commit and dedicate some time with relative confidence to help fix the bandsaw.

The Issue: the blade slips off the wheel as soon as you turn on the saw. If you push down and put pressure on the back of the motor the blade will stay on, but slips immediately if you lose pressure.
The larger wheel on the bottom inside has it’s lip completely worn away, so that probably needs replacement, but the bigger issue is how to fix the proper tension/pressure/angle up top.

The club will pay for replacement parts if you can figure out how to fix it. This is our XL saw so it would be nice to have it operational again.

Thanks

Sounds like the tensioner mechanism is worn out. Is there a screw that holds the upper head at the right distance/blade in tension? That would be slipping is my first guess. That or the frame is deformed and the motor needs to be permanently shimmed up. I haven't taken one apart in a while, but can help debug remotely.

I'm not a repair person. If you clearly know what's broken get the parts ordered i have the tools and could definitely swap the parts out. However Id be useless at troubleshooting unless it's obvious.

I'm a experienced part swaper on my cars in any case, I've done heater cores, brakes, calipers, rotors and the like. Mechanic identifies problem i can normally figure out how to fix the identified problem if it's just replacing some parts.

We're close enough to each other it wouldn't be inconvenient for either of us. If you can identify what needs to be swapped out and we can source the replacement parts online somewhere.
