Not a bad idea, not to complain but rather to give him the data point. I did leave them in my garage in Vegas, so they got hot.

Jonas already wrote back and said one other person in Australia had the same thing happen with their B going bad after being left in a hot attic for a long time like I did in my hot garage. Apparently (go figure) he includes instructions to not store in high heat, but said thank you for the data point and he may refine his communication to emphasize to not do that and store in a cool dry place. He seems like a super nice and smart guy and I will continue to use and recommend his products.

That’s a useful reminder to the rest of us, since I store most of my reefing supplies in the garage and it can get hot

Define “hot”? Vegas hot or Oakland hot (possibly 90’s in summer)

How much do you care about buying new reagents? Chemical degradation is usually somewhat analog in that the hotter and the longer the worse it is. The reagent will be fine until it isn't. I would try to find an indoor closet floor if possible and I will be doing so in the future.

I’d prefer to not at all to repurchase reagents -but on the whole -temps in Vegas and Walnut Creek can easily get 100+ compared to where I live in Oakland that maybe gets 90+ a few days a year in summer so curious if that is fine or should I find an indoor space somewhere. They have been stored in the storage (unregulated temp) area for 3 years without incident -I believe.

That being said-how do you actually know when the reagents go bad?

I think Walnut Creek hot is similar to Las Vegas hot. Above 90F all summer, often 100F+, occasionally 110F. Not unusual for us to beat out Death Valley. Depends more on if your garage has southerly exposure and insulation. Mine never gets as hot as it is outside in the summer, but not unusual to be 90F inside the garage.

Hmm I used some older reagent as well. Maybe my issue is just my reagent too.

When you changed with fresh/new ABC reagents there was no test B fail anymore?

I'm having a test B fail as well. At first I had a stuck solenoid but it should be working after I cleaned it. Is old reagent the issue?

About a year and the half ago. Jonas. ABC guy. Chemist put an additive into his stuff so it doesn’t go bad so quickly. He said he used one that was years and years old. It was fine.
I did have a Neptune one go bad. It grew some slime stuff on the bottom of the bottle.

I'm actually getting this again with a batch of reagent. I'm wondering if it is bad again. This time not expired

I been going on a year with the abc reagents now as I test only 1x a day for CA/MG and 2x a day for alk. They seem a lot more consistent in that comparing values before after calibration -they don’t shift wildly unlike in a few cases with the trident reagents -made me bust out a second test to verify.,
