so when you shut off the skimmer, no more bubble?

There was some bubbles left in the tank but the bubbles being "injected" through the return every 1 - 4 mins stopped.

How do you mean, like down the return pumping line? I'm not sure that would be possible with 900gph being forced the opisite direction.

If you mean like the return pump isn't all the way submerged, it is all the way under water at all times.

Well I have been trying to slove the mirco bubbles every 2-5 mins issue. I was giving a tip to completely wrap the skimmers drain pipe in foam, as the bubbles might have been a coming into the return pumps area, but unfornatly it did not work.


I was able to snap some shots last night, and everything is doing really well, I even discovered what appears to be a yuma hitchhiker on some live rock I bought. When I 1st noticed it it just looked like a spot, but lately it has begun to grow some ridges and bumps. Any ideas?

That hitchiker is a type of mushroom and not a yuma.

The only reason I thought it might be a yuma is becuase all the ridges weren't there 2 weeks ago, it literly just looked like a spot on the rock. But whatever it is it's cool to see it growing.

I should have stated that I knew what the orange digi was because it was my 1st DBTC coral . What about the other SPS corals, any idea what they are?

orange cap, then a blue chalice (LPS) and some other cool colored chalice (LPS). Most likely, the chalices will do better in low/med light over high light.

See now this is my issue with ppl. When I bought the blue chalice I was told it NEEDED to be in high light as it was an SPS coral. Both of those pieces are positioned near the top of my rockwork to get the best light possible.

[/quote]Some Chalice like high light some like low, and it seems to me IME there is not much in the way of wiggle room, they can be challenging (some of them). From the looks of things, I'd keep the blue one where it is unless it starts to fade, then move it down. The orangish one again IME, likes lower light, I've yet to see a high light red/orange chalice. HTH

My red DBTC chalice went orange in high light (still pretty just a different shade). Likewise, the DBTC blue chalice I recieved faded to brown in high light and didn't grow well (I now have it in low light and slowly await how it will change). That is the thing with corals...everything is super slow, except disasters.

Roc, if you have camera control, take a picture of your chalice with a fixed white balance. Every week, retake a photo with the same white balance and compare it. It is slow, but you can get a get a jump start on the slow to notice bleaching that chalices often suffer.

The blue one I have had for about 2 months and it has become much more intense blue since moving it closer to the light.

The orange one looks great but maybe it would take a different color if I moved it down some.

Well I need to take some new pics as the scape slightly changed while I was chasing down the butterfly (fish trap worked GREAT) and a couple of things had to be moved after I put some of the rocks back. I have fragged up the candy canes and spread the frags I was keeping out on one of the rocks to grow a hillside of them instead of a tree like I had before.

Well I have been getting lots of little SPS (and a couple of LPS) frags recently, and have now moved my xenia to a different part of the tank as it was trying to take over my SPS area (by the way if you would like some PM me as I need to crop some stalks off the rocks right next to the old location maybe I will do DBTC with it hummmmmmmmm) Anyway I have recently gotten

Oregen tort, Orange Crush Acan, a purple with green mothed chalice (which I didn't take a good pic of), A Deep Blue Tipped Acropora (don't know common name), A Red/Pink Acropora Millepora (don't know common name), A Bright Neon Green Acropora (don't know common name), and another SPS that I forgot what the member called it when they traded it to me (heip can you help ?)

So I moved a couple of things around this weekend (moved xenia to side corner, still viewable from the loveseat) and cleared some of my frags off the racks and placed them on the rock. none of the SPS have been glued down yet as I want to see how I like the look for a couple of days but they are all wedged in nicely. I am trying to peg down some of the names so when I offer these for BDTC I know what to put.
