Tough situation. You did what are the core things I would think to do. Get a heater into the display. Presumably keep powerheads going. Stop the leak by remote controlling things. Did a great prep step of having a camera.

If you can get someone able to check the seem for you to make sure it's not going to catastrophically explode, I would have someone manually top it off if possible and then hope for the best for when you get back.

If you think you have a super high bio-load, the only other thing I'd add is ask your friend to move the powerhead near the surface to help with air, but I'd only do that if I was very simple to do. Eg not a vortech where they might get things misaligned and confused.

My sympathies. That sucks. Always happens on vacation for some reason.

I don't know if this is reef safe, but a great product that is used in boat emergencies. You can put it on the outside of the tank to avoid contact with the display water. Sorry, this happened to you.

Just an Update. @psidriven really saved the day for me here..... While im stuck in a foreign county, he brought straps and RODI water to my house and handled business. Tank is strapped up. ATO is topped off. A plan is established and morale is high. So a direct thank you to him as well as the whole club. I never anticipated this issue and am just glad I was able to find the help when needed.

I will try and update this when i get home and am able to start working on permanent solutions.

Attached is a photo from my webcam showing the strap installed.

@psidriven - you are the man. Should get an award for this. Worst case scenario for anyone who leaves the country, and folks like you save the day. Well done!

@SpaceCased - I believe you said you had a tub but I have a 50 gallon tub if you need it. I can just not deliver it as I do not believe it will fit into my cars. Terrible thing that happened to you.
