Transformers 2

*cringe* Considering how Michael Bay butchered my childhood memories with the first movie, I gotta pass, wait for this to come to DVD or hell even TV.

I think it will be an awesome movie ... mainly for the graphics! I heard things in this movie will be much more easy to see and visible than in the first.
I already bought my tickets for Wednesday. I was surprised the Century 20 out in Daly City only had four or five show times the entire day for it.

Chris, wasn't horrible? They might as well have called Robots from Outerspace that Attacked, or something, megatron as an alien space ship? Uhh ok fine a gun would have been a bit silly (At least LaDouche said that :D), Starscream? He was an antagonistic bastard that wouldn't shut up... how many lines did he have the whole movie? Bumblebee... BUMBLEBEE!!! A Camero? GM give too much product placement bucks? Ditto with Soundwave, ok they made him more modern, but seriously that voice of his is what made him so badass! Gone.

So to me, it was a horrid movie, as it had no real feel of the Transformers I grew up with.

Don't worry Mike I am sure Voltron will be coming out as a movie soon.

Seriously though I used to love going to the movies nowadays they can't seem to make a good movie that doesn't involve a comic book, old cartoon, remake or a sequel?

::AND START RANT::
Hollywood has been out of ideas for awhile that's why they turned to comics. The only problem with that is that comics have years and years of character development, in comes Hollywood and they try and put all that lore/history (with a twist because it can't be the same) into a two/three hour movie it is pretty much destined to fail. Transformers pisses me off cause they took my childhood and smacked it in the mouth but I am not disappointed because I knew it wouldn't be good from the get go. GI Joe will probably also suck but who knows, I will pass judgment when it is actually out.
::End Rant::

Video Game movies are also teh suckz :p

I saw I loved it I grew watching the later transformers and I thought it was very cool. You cant make it be the same as the cartoon. Oooohh bumble bee as VW bug who want to see that. ALSo Prime as early 70"s truch with the flat front.... come on. Michael Bay did not ruin it. If you want to relive childhood memories i have the DVD set you can borrow. Ratchet, Jazz, Ironhide, were some of the coolest. AT least he did not put in characters like seaspray and the inseticons!! haha movies for me are entertainment at it kept me entertained.

Sometimes people seem a little overly critical, lol :) I watch these movies to be entertained, albeit I do admit there are movies that totally stink. But of course you can never really make the "new" exactly like the "old," because times change, and they need to make a movie that will also cater to this generation.

Bryan: God I hope not! ... Although I really wasn't a big Voltron fan, a little too adult for me at the time when I watched it, romance, death, etc.

Erick hit the nail on the head, it's all about the rich history that these remakes are doing already have. Now the big problem isn't so much they change things, but how they change it because they do need to write some background in the movie, which invariably can come with problems, and will change it a lot due to the limitations of time.

The xmen for example did a great job at this, they completely butchered the origins sure, but they made it work with the story and it overall was a great movie. In fact they didn't try to cram too much into things, didn't explain the origins of every character, just kept things brief. Plus Patrick Stewart can do no wrong :D

The Transformers, it's a great movie if you just turn your brain off and don't care about what's going on, but it's hard to do that when it's something you really grew up with, and I grew up with the original transformers, not that Beast Wars digitized crap that came later. For me it seemed too related on the human characters, and the robots really were just a plot device in the background. Plus I really don't like Shia LaDouche. So the main appeal for this movie was to bring me back to my child hood, at least partially, which it really failed at.

Movies eventually reach a point when they will be extremely hit or miss, especially considering they're doing sequels and remakes galore. I'm trying to think of a remake of a tvshow that I watched that was good... and I can't think of one off hand, Dukes of Hazzard? Miami Vice? all misses, the only one that really didn't fail was the Star Trek (there where hits and misses though), but that was a direct move from tv to movies so really didn't change things or get too much "creative control" influenced.

Now how good this movie is? Well everyone has different opinions, but me not liking the first movie does weigh on me as to whether I'll like this one. Armageddon was another mindless action flick that I cringed about the science of it, however I enjoyed it. Transformers, well that one missed for me.
