Cali Kid Corals

Lazy Reefers Waterbox 20 cube

Not sure how well a scrubber will work with this skimmer but I have the 1/4 size canister needed so I figured why not.

Nice progress!

How do you like the Kessil compared to the primeHD? Any reasoning behind why you went with the Kessil instead?
Thanks! It moves fast after having years of trial and error under your belt. I always wanted to try out kessil and they are an official sponsor of this build on my instagram page so I’m super stoked to give it a whirl. It’s certainly a much different light from the primes and I see pros and cons but over time I’ll know which one I like more.

So what's the FCC requirements for sponsored products? Do they only apply to the medium to which the sponsorship is aimed at? Or do they apply to all mentions of the product in descriptions, i.e. on webpages?

Usually the IG deal is a few posts a month. Not sure what it means elsewhere but I take it that I am an ambassador of their company now and treat situations as such. Didn’t have to sign any FCC thing so pretty sure it’s just a low key thing

First, I meant FTC, not FCC :D But I'm sure the FCC has something similar
Second, it's not about signing any FTC thing, the idea is that you have to be forthcoming with the fact that the company is sponsoring it, or sent you a "sample", or whatever so that there's no conflict of interests about the true intentions of what's going on. Which is that it effectively is an advertisement for said company, and any prospective customers of said product know that what you say about the product MAY be influenced by the fact that you received some form of compensation for it whether monetary or physical goods.

Chances of "getting busted" by the FTC are really slim, however simply stating in the first post whether it's Instagram, Twitter or Youtube (and possibly forum posts, that part I'm fuzzy about) about any items that you received gratis or compensation from companies when doing any sort of review or build pretty much covers all your basis. So if Kessil sent you a light, or sold it to you at a deep discount, or the "diffuser", or if the tank was in any way gifted, or the pumps, etc etc etc, simply mention it and you're in the clear.

All stocked up on food! New tank needs some pods as well so I’ll be seeding tonight after lights out.

You know how when you setup a new tank you wished you could just be at home all day with it for the first few weeks. Under different circumstances this is ideal but I’ll take the good with the bad.
The tanks been stocked for a week and has 6 gold line cardinals and a handful of baby nems. Cleanup crew was added yesterday as the algae is starting to grow so the ugly stage is well on its way.

Is Reef Nutrition sponsoring your tank too? LOL
RN has been a sponsor of my IG page for almost a year now :) Chad is awesome and I’m so grateful to be able to work with such a rad company.
This is my first fully sponsored build, besides carib sea who declined :/
Current sponsors/partners are Sicce/Reef nutrition/Waterbox/VCA/Kessil/XP aqua/Aqua UV. Beyond stoked I found a medium to grow my presence in this hobby as one day I’d love to get into the industry full time.

That's super cool, the "growing your presence" thing not the CaribSea teeshirt :D Always wondered what it would be like to be a "sponsored reefer" like you see on youtube and what not, I just don't have it in me to do that though, so bravo for being able to do it :D

What is it that you offer your sponsors and what do you get in return?
@ashburn2k pretty much nailed it. It’s a way for a company to get market presence and some extra reach. Basically I endorse their product and give them some space on my feed a couple times a month. You do have to build up a decent following to make it happen though which took well over a year to achieve.
