Casey's Red Sea S-1000

Have the monitor stands been working well? It’s such a great idea
So far so good. Being able to move them back for maintenance has been handy. At one point when I was moving it though, the ball socket joint slipped and the whole rack tilted downwards almost 45º. There was no way I was going to take off all the wiring to remove the rack and re-torque it down in position, so I ended up propping the rack back up, then drilling in a hole for a set screw so it won't slip. If I were to do this again, I'd sandwich epoxy in the cup then drill a couple set screws to lock it in position.

Did you try putting in a manifold off the return pump? I am thinking about getting the S-850 but it seems like the aluminum frame might get in the way of mounting a PVC run

Not a manifold, but I do have one of the return lines re-routed to plumb a UV sterilizer inline.

In red is where there'd normally be an elbow to go up. There's space in this cabinet compartment.

Yup red sea includes parts to plug the connecting pipes. The stock piping has clips on the back wall to support it. The white PVC I added is just being supported by the bulkhead on top and uv connections on bottom. Though I should add some strapping to help support some of the hanging spans.

Ah I see, thanks. Is there a barb on their Y adapter for connecting both returns? Is the barb 1"?

Also, what are the dimensions of your main sump (without extension)?

Awwwwww F**k!! This colony of The Vinh, that I've grown from a frag for years, lost its color about a month ago and last two weeks started STNing. Upon closer look... aefw :( No other acros seem affected, but I'll have to inspect and start treatment. This is a first for me. I usually inspect and dip all frags before they go in but maybe it's time for coral QT too.

Last acro frags added were in April and from a pretty well known online vendor.

Random question, does stn spread to other corals and if so what is your method of treating such thing?

Most definitely eggs. The forum converts images to a low resolution so detail isn't as clear in the first pic.

Not quite sure yet what the game plan is yet. I'll need to do a lot more research on what's effective but not overboard. Tbh with a toddler, an infant, and work, i'm burnt out most days and have to try and squeeze in just regular reef maintenance time. Can I consistently dip all the corals on schedule? Can I remove colonies that have encrusted to big rocks to dip? Dont know.

My first course of action though is to take macro photos off all the corals from different angles so I can inspect them on the computer monitor. I'm still perplexed, and wishfully hopeful, that no other acros seem to show signs of aefw. Maybe 6 wrasses I have keep them at bay.

I had them 2 years ago. I thought they were just on 1 colony as I didn’t see them on any others. I was wrong. I would loose 1 colony a month. Finally I was gonna kill them or kill the sps. I put all the sps into my 60 gallon frag system. Dipped all of them in Bayer once a week for 6 weeks to break the cycle. It sucked. Good luck to you.

Just got caught up from beginning to end on this tank. What an amazing setup Casey! Gorgeous!

What a crappy situation you are in now though. I don't have much to offer in regard to how to proceed. One thing I was recently watching, was how Than of Tidal Gardens mentioned utilizing a "canary" that all the aefw preferred to feast on. Looks like you already have one. Consistently taking it out to treat and slowly decreasing population. Once the population is low enough, then maybe a chemical agent to eradicate them would be a viable option without the risk of a toxic overdose.

These kinds of things scare me honestly. Most things I have dipped. But there have definitely been a bunch that I haven't dipped. I recently tried to get a small QT system going, but it was quickly taken over by the wife for her ever expanding zoa collection.
