Cali Kid Corals

Casey's Red Sea S-1000

Acros have been doing well so I picked up some new higher end ones. Tried out this site called Reefnbid.com for coral auctions and won some from Pieces of The Ocean at a fraction of their highly absurd retail prices. Pretty happy with the frag sizes and the fact that they're encrusted ... unlike another vendor we just did a group by with that looked like he fragged and glued them less than a week before. Took some pictures to log their growth.

I lost my big colony of The Vinh last year from AEFW. The little sliver of encrusting that was left on the rock is making a comeback

I'm now in the eight Kessil club. Previous configuration was 6 kessils down the center area and two rows of four Quanta Pro strips in the front and back. I wasn't 100% happy because the LED strips washed out some of the shimmer and I had to compensate the blue color by cranking the Kessils to 100% white. All personal preference, corals loved it. I now have two Quanta strips down the middle and eight Kessils on the front and back. I'm much happier with the color rendering, spread, and shimmer. Huge visual difference was with the Kessils in front angled inwards that reduced the shadows when viewing from the front of the tank.

That rail mounting set up is crazy. I went back and looked at it in your journal. I can dream of having something similar, but looks many levels above my skill level unless it's was made from regular lumber than paintes black.

Awesome!!, maybe we can get @ReyDeFarts to run a contest for “most obscene light rack.”

I’ll post pics after my next iteration but it will have 6x a8se, 4x 6ft helix, and a Kessil a160.
