Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

go to hear on that pump, might have to swing by and get a listen for myself. Granted the pump I'm looking for moves considerably less water, if I'm going to be paying Eheim prices for a pump, I'd like one that has a little more giddyup

Oh you got a 3000? Sorry if you mentioned this earlier in the thread, 117 pages is hard to remember everything that has been said ;)

But I'm thinking on the 5000 model, but that'd be closer to the 3000 than the 16000... then again I need to do serious planning as far as circulation goes and I'm not even close to that stage... however my Quiet One I'm currently using is pissing me off since it sucks at restarting, and I might get a pump to tide that over in the mean time.

Always welcome to swing by Mike. The HY-3000 is quiter than my Eheim pumps. Although a friend mentioned there's a break in period with the larger HY-16000.

It's on page 113 post 1125 buddy. :p

You can try out the HY-3000 if you like ,since I'm using the HY-16000 to run everything. LMK.

I might really need to take you up on this, since my Quiet One just became a Quit One, funny how you notice the differences in sounds your tank makes :D

Silent fish room, great horror flick.

I have a 70 gal rubbermaid that I'll use to change out the water every couple of weeks until I start stocking, then I'll probably bump it up to weekly. I would like to automate that eventually.

Well that's kinda boring, considering the rest of your system. :p

There must be some really fancy expensive automated system out there just waiting for you.
Put some bags of salt in one hopper. Drop conductivity probe in tank. Connect to water main + sewer.
Then it simply maintains the perfect salt level.

I know they're out there...I just don't feel like paying for one. :p

I'll probably end up buying a large poly container and have it plumbed so a flip of a couple valves and instant water change.
