I love tankless water heaters. I put them in every house I own.

Not my work - Pretty new house so came with it, but yeah, beats the tank any day! And has easy access connections for my sink!

New house sure, existing house... not unless you have electtic water heater. Gas is too much of a PITA to retrofit, gas main is often not big enough, vent might share with furnace which you cant do and you need to put in a different vent. Just doesnt make financial sense because gas isnt expensive like electricity

Actually, you only need minimal power to light the Gas and you're off! I have a small generator and it's good for my tank, fridges and hot water. Sure, if PG&E turns of the gas you are screwed though
