got ethical husbandry?

Patio's IM 75 EXT

Made some room this weekend removing the large forest fire and spongodes colonies. Crazy to think kalkwasser only could grow so much stone (including the stylo colony removed in May). I will try and feed the tank a little less than normal for a couple weeks.

Edit to add on 11/11/24: Research this brand of rocks abilities to raise DKH before buying. It seems some others have mentioned they may increase DKH. I also noticed this but figured it was something I had done rather than the rock's doing. Now I am unsure.

AquaForest AF Rock

I see this week another reefer ran into issues with this rock driving dkh way up. RHF thinks it is uncured cement which is adding the unexpected alk.

I have some still in the box if anyone wants to mess around with it.

This is what @CharlesJohns58 talked about with the Philippine reef at the Steinhart Aquarium and how they didn't need to supplement alkalinity for awhile. I had the same thing with mine too when I had lots of aquascaping cement on my structures.

I suspect Charles knew they were using uncured concrete and acted accordingly while I should not have assumed AF rock is cured or acts like other brands of dead rock. For example, does Carib Sea Life Rock act like a reservoir that leaches alk?
