All in due time...between the holidays, the baby, and end of year work deadlines, I'd have little time to tend to it now..just enjoying the journey..lol

Currently setting up a separate system with a 10 gallon petco tank...ive been spending alot of time on humble fish reading up on it and planning on following their lead..

I'm sure it'll come..id be worried if it didnt TBH..first build using dry rock so let's see how it goes
 
Could always fill just above the structure and toss a power head/ beneficial bacteria/ heater in to soak for a bit would definitely help get that slime coat started plus then can test if the structure is leaching anything then water changes if needed.. Appears your in no hurry and just cruising at a relaxed pace everyone here wants the lights, camera, Action!! We’re getting full on all your apit teasers! Lol
 
I'm feeling the pressure so I threw some water in the tank today...wish me luck

Will you have enough room/clearance on the bottom to add salt easily, particularly without getting it everywhere?

There's JUST enough room to get a OXO cup to pour in...it was the main thing I considered when setting the heights of the shelves..

I had planned for a light down there as well, but it'll get too tight.

How big are the holding tanks?

I dont mean to throw up a red flag. However we use those types of racks at work for the dry storage areas, to store cases of waters, soda, jugs of oil etc, and the selves themselves tend to bend over time after a year or two. Nothing that happens right away by any means. Just something you may wanna keep a casual eye on as time passes in the future.

This one is rated for 900 lbs(evenly distributed) a rack. We use the same ones in the hospital to hold up racks of O2 cylinders. Definitely built better than the costco ones I have already.

I still plan on keeping an eye on it tho..I tested out how they would hold and filled both bins with water..once filled its immobile, so and rolling would have to be done empty..and just in case, there's extra bracing below each rack.

If I see it start to bend, I'll go the aluminum route.
