I have a large 180 liter white Brute, with 5 liter markings on the side, which I hand-made. When it gets lowish (less than 50 liters), I refill all day from my RODI. I subtract the volumes, multiply by 1.6 g/L. I weigh out this amount, add, mix for about 60 seconds with a long paddle type mixer by hand, then cover. It’s super fast and simple, loses no potency, and is ultra-reliable. Anyone who has the space could do this and not have to worry about it further.

I don’t see the advantage of having a large container and putting in way excess kalk for multiple fills, instead of just putting in the right amount for each. You aren’t really saving time or effort, just adding a variable.

how I use yo mix
5 gal container use Distilled/RO DI
Mix in the kalk
Run pump to mix
Let sit a few days
Pump out 4gal disturbing the bottom
And done
The calcium is now in infused into the water and will not separate easily.
The Water can so much calcium than the rest is just waste.
You can save the other gallon to mix again, but I usually just toss it.
In the past, this is how most people end up killing the tank when dosing.

I would absolute do that if I have space. I have the tank in the living room and wife will kill me if i put a 5g bucket next to the tank permanently! Haha

The agreement with the wife is everything must fit inside the cabinet.

We just need to figure out how to get you a larger wall to wall cabinet.

I actually had plan to expand into the laundry room behind the tank . There is an interior wall in btw, but it’s non structural. But it’s basically a non starter . Wife not giving up the laundry room . Haha

I remember using it for top off water. But after nuking my 1st tank when the tunze failed.
I never trust more then 2gals top off container. 2gal dump into 100gal volume. But a pain since it u need to refill all the time.
Do you guys still pipe into output of the skimmer?

For my ATO, i have double/triple fail safe.

1. Tunze have both secondary sensor (float sensor) and max on time beside the primary optical sensor. If all fails-
2. Secondary optical water sensor that will power off tunze if water lever get too high

My ATO reservoir is 4G but its auto-refill , connected to the RODI (with multiple fail safe)

I've seen someone with their dosing containers on a shelf mounted high on a bathroom wall on the other side of their tank. One of those slim 5 gallon ATO containers wouldn't be too much of eyesore. Or get wall mounted cabinets to hide it in :)

Should be below sump. You wouldn’t want to siphon my mistake.
