Red Sea G2 180 tank - am I in trouble?

Am I in trouble with my Red Sea tank failing? I bought this 180g G2 tank used about 6 months ago before I knew this things fell apart. I think this seal has gotten more detached than before? The sealed part of the glass is still more than the width of the glass it attaches to but am I just waiting for a disaster to happen? Any advice would be welcome.

It's the beginning of the titanic. Good thing you caught it. I've seen RS tank with eurobrace top and bottom. That helped tremendously.

I would immediately send this to the seller asking him how much warranty is left on it.. he should be able to contact RedSea with this pic and ask for a replacement.. hope he is someone accountable and not someone who offloaded his troubles.. This pic definitely doesnt instill any confidence, I feel like I have seen a few similar pics in posts on R2R.

I do not think the warranty is transferrable.

I think it does, not sure what it is but i'm guessing it's kind of a corner round bead inside the aquarium?

I got my CADE delivered really fast, I think it was less than a week from order.

If you go with acrylic definitely use cell cast acrylic.. Don't rush you get what you pay for research the company for issues on the larger forums. Brush up crazing on acrylic how it's caused. Half inch material at the minimum or 3/4 to make sure it won't bow which are common trates with acrylic tanks depending how it's designed. Plus you clean acrylic very differently then glass be prepared for scratches that appear out of nowhere lol.. I've seen these tanks in person before which all have been well made just do your diligence before making that purchase..

My next tank down the road 8x2x2 will definitely be acrylic..Large temporary tubs work great club members here have actually used them for over a year or two and more growing amazing corals with no issues being said no reason to rush an expensive purchase there are options. Besides your going to have to break down the existing tank regardless while the new one gets ready for corals and fish which you will need holding tanks or tub..

I would rethink the acrylic route.

The Red Sea was just bad luck, as someone was offloading his problems.

I checked all Innovative Marine and they all have a long waiting time - except this one: https://www.innovative-marine.com/s...e-Reef-System-Black-BLEMISHED-TANK-p706461624

But still only available end of August so you would need to work with a tub in the interim.

Clamping as you've done is the best you can do for now. Use a marker to draw an outline of the separating area. This way you can track if the separation is still growing or not.

If you need any resources feel free to ask the club! There's large stock tanks, moving equipment, etc floating around that you can borrow.

My buddy is selling his CDA tank. Not sure of the gallons but it’s probably at least 180g+. I think the dimensions are 6’x24”x24”? Not positive. I’ll find out tomorrow. He’s in San Jose.

Thank you everyone so much for all the great advice and support. This is such a great group. So I've outlined the split with a sharpie, I feel pretty good about the clamps keeping it from splitting further... mechanically I think it should hold for a decent amount of time since the stress is being reduced from the silicone. I do have access to lots of tubs when it comes time to emptying the tank and replacing it with a new one. Now I need to do my research on what's next? I'd like to use my RedSea Cabinet if possible.

Thanks to PjFish who first informed me about the issues with the RedSea tanks. Because of that, I've been monitoring all the seams and hopefully caught this before a tragedy occurred in my living room. I must admit I do love glass. Is there a brand out there I can trust not to split?

Thanks for looking into this Alexander. Let me do some research, I'd like to see if I can just purchase a tank to fit on my existing cabinet. I know that might void whatever warranty a tank comes with.
