got ethical husbandry?

Seminolecpa's 180G upgrade

Actually it is a good thing and one of the things that made me go with this particular breeder. They wanted to ensure I knew about the breed, was prepared for the goods and bads and that I could provide a good home before they would just sell off their puppies. I way prefer someone who actually cares who the person is that is getting a dog and how they will treat it to someone who is just trying to make a quick buck.

Yea it's becoming common practice to be interviewed when purchasing from a breeder (for dogs and cats) Some breeders want 6 month updates, with pictures, on the animals and have a clause that if the new owner for whatever reason cannot keep the animal that the breeder has the right to get it back, or purchase it back.

If it were a mill they would be shipping them out to box stores, and most of the mills are run by Amish in central Pennsylvania, it's a huge racket there.

I think what the breeder in this case is really looking for is someone that can deal with the activity level of the dog as well as be able to keep the dog entertained so it doesn't develop neurotic habits like chewing and scratching. There are companion animals, then there are breeds that require special care in order for them to make good pets. Take for example my little dachshund, she is born to kill badgers and is fearless, in fact any sign of fear in the breed is considered a flaw and those dogs are not bred. What does that mean? If I'm walking my dog and she gets a scent, it is my fault that she took off, if she sees another dog that she wants to fight, which is all dogs except doxies (they hunt in packs) and gets mauled by a Great Dane, you guessed it, it's my fault.

Nice pup Bryan, you're going to have a great time with your little pooch :)

Fantastic! I wonder how they will get along as they grow. I assume you keep your parameters fairly constant. Would you share standard parameters these days including temperature. Are you still doing around 6 hours of MH/day? Water changes? %/? And the T5s - do you think the 2 x 4' are adequate as supplemental?
Thanks, Jim

Those rock BTW... very impressive :D

I am a little worried about it but I did a pretty good job of spacing them out and planning as I mounted them based on growth patterns. It will still take lots of pruning and probably the eventual removal of some pieces. That is what DBTC is for!

Yes 2 4 footers are more then adequate for supplements IMHO

My tank temp ranges from mid 75's to mid 78's
My PH ranges from the low 8.1's to the low 8.3's
Mag at roughly 1400, CA at 440 or so and Alk at 8 or 9 (I don't test it very often unless something looks wrong)

Light cycle
12:00 T-5's on
14:00 L MH on
15:30 R MH on
15:45 T-5's off
19:15 T-5's on
19:30 L MH off
21:00 R MH off
22:55 Moon lights on
23:00 T-5's off
9:00 Moon lights off

I try to do a 15-20G water change a week but sometimes get lazy and do about 40G every other week.

Dosing only

Got bored with the wife out of town the rest of the week. I will try to get some of the ones that are closer to the bottom soon.
