Cali Kid Corals

Jeff's 120

So... building the overflow for my 40g frag tank that will be looped into this tank build. The flow to this tank will only be around 300-400gph. Within the tank itself I will have 2 Koralia 2's and 1 Koralia 3 for lots of flow.

First cut out my pieces...

What it will look like...

Glued it together. This time tomorrow I will go back with a fresh razorblade and trim off the glue on the outside. each seam is 100% contact and I have a nice bead on the inside throughout. Once I trim off the excess on the outside it will look pretty good.

A little bit of chipping on the way out but over all good. I had meant to put some duck tape on the other side to keep that from happening but forgot. Oh well.... It looks good regardless.

Don't you worry the silicone will come apart? Why not use weldon? If you need some, I have a lot. LMK...
[/quote]

Not for that little overflow. You can certainly pull it apart if you wanted to but i'm pretty confident it will hold. I had a similar apparatus for years before and it never came apart or leaked. Thanks for the offer on the weldon though.

Yeah I know it will hold but I would sleep better at night knowing it won't come apart ;D .. Just make sure the sump is big enough to hold all the water incase something happen. ;)

Alright, Alright... Dangit Phong! Now I got to redo the whole damn thing! ;D If I could use some of your weld-on that would be great. You going to be at a LFS anytime tomorrow where I can meet you?

:D sorry I'm leaving to OR tomorrow. I won't be back until Sunday evening though. It will hold ;) .. If you want to wait until Sunday, I will be home after 6PM. I'm off next Wed too.

Zambavi your stuff is looking real good.

Thanks Vento... Appreciate it. I'll be happy once I get everything 100% so I can really start focusing on corals.

Ya... Saturday is my day to plumb this tank... sunday is the BOD meeting... If I can't get it done then I'll have to wait until next weekend. I'm going to try and get this taken care of tomorrow if at all possible. If i'm unsuccessful in finding a can of it I'll let you know. I've never seen the stuff at HD or Lowes. Is there a local place (more south san jose the better) that I can get this? I know I can order from several joints online but would really like to get this guy put together tomorrow. Thanks...

You can't get weldon at OSH or HD. If you want you can come to my house now and get some. I'm in SJ too.. Tully and Mclaughlin area. PM me if you want.

Thanks Phong... I actually just asked my neighbor and he had some in his garage so i'm good! Thanks!

Looking good!

What are you going to put inbetween the overflow box and the back glass so water doesn't get inbetween and leak out from your bulkhead?

100% silicon over every square inch... should be about 3-4" of solid silicon between water and the bulkhead threads... bulkhead hand tightened down snugly. I can't imagine water ever getting past that.

Got a few things done over the last couple days. Completed the back panel of my frag tank stand... installed 2 fans and cut holes for plumbing and electic.

Fans ended up being very quiet... I'm liking them. They were $20 each at Radioshack... $2 for the cords. The air movement rating on them is 85 with a decible rating of 38 +/-2.
