Reef 3D printing request thread

Does anyone mind printing a couple tiny urchin hats for the upcoming potluck?

LF a few 1/2" locline pieces please.
  • y-fitting
  • 12 segment pieces
  • 4x - RFG nozzles (flexible)
Does anyone already have the correct files? If not, what file type do you need and I'll start hunting? I did not see anything on the humble fish forum.

TIA!

I’ve used these with success

I can print them for you. But I’m not sure if I’m making CFM yet. I can always pass them onto Michael or someone else local attending

The locline in my experience is pretty hard to print right. You really need to have on hand some of the original size pieces to test fit against, because the fit has to be perfect. Also the filament is more brittle and therefore less forgiving when handled roughly, such as when you're trying to push fit loc line together. Easy fit it to crack.

You can do some cool custom stuff though. The flexible RFGs (I think those exist) are a cool middle ground, in that the fit being off a bit matters less.

You can try yeggi.com as a search engine for files.

I will agree on the locline. I tried it and ended up just buying the locline segmants and printing the RFG nozzle

Hmmm... gotcha. I had the 3d printed rfg nozzle crack on me when Eric printed me some. I think it was the type of material used. He suggested the "flexible" type. I'm not sure if that would make a difference for the segments. If thats not a material you have, let me know and I'll buy you spool to play with. LMK

The flexible material does seem like it’ll make the segments easier to work with. I actually need some 3/4” returns too so I’m going to test it out

Any tips on printing with TPU? I can’t get the RFG nozzles to come out. I’m feeding the filament from above so it goes straight in. I already tried drying the filament for a long time and even fed the filament from the dry box while printing. Tried both colors I ordered just in case one of them was a quality issue. The outside looks fine but it doesn’t seem to like the finds inside the nozzle
