Picked up the lighting from kessil today! Correction on the diffuser I was mistaken and it’s actually a narrow angle adapter focusing the beam. Not that I need the extra strength but this should help keep all the light in the 18x18 area instead of spilling over to the full 24x24 spread.

Oh yeah I remember that diffuser at the tour, they had them on those lights above the tank that were like 10 feet above the tank, or at least a diffuser similar to that... so not really a diffuser I guess :D :D :D

Yea definitely not a diffuser in fact the opposite, creates a beam of death but their claim of that 5 foot depth looked pretty true with those lights 10’ above the tank.

Was there today to pick up the light and the coral in the lobby display looks happy as can be. One day I shall light my reef from a 15’ vaulted ceiling and feel like a king.

Tank comes on Thursday but I decided to get a head start on the cycle. Put my rocks in a 29 gallon brute with some ammonia and dr Tim’s. Figure it can’t hurt at all.

Was also playing around with the 360x today and I’m fairly impressed.

be careful with that wording... lots of members here received a tank that was in less than stellar condition when they got it :D
Oh I’m aware that it could literally be dropped to pieces which I’m sure they will replace and will be a bummer most definitely

Rock cycle moving along. Dropping ammonia already so I bumped the concentration back up to 2ppm

don't know if I'd jump the gun and say ammonia is dropping, while it looks like the color is lighter, that may be an effect from it being on a white table versus the darker wood grain one, and while that is kind of wild speculation one thing I noticed is that nitrite didn't go up which you'd expect to see as ammonia decreased.

That said though, yay! new tank time is always fun.

Man the info on bacteria and fish less cycles can go any direction you want it too. But in my last few cycles I never even see nitrate due to the higher concentration of bacteria that processes it being in our bottled bacteria. Also helps that I put in 3 different brands of bacteria culture so I’m hoping for a diverse group of good little guys.

With this method my rocks are usually cycled by day 7 or 8 and then I have another little mini cycle in the tank once the rocks go in. How much bacteria..........all the bacteria haha
