New Member Area/Introduce yourself thread

Hello everyone,

I am Aldie from Redwood City and became a member last week. Just found this thread and thought I'll introduce myself.

I have been in the hobby since 2001 and upgraded about 7 weeks ago from a 100g to a 156g. This will be my first attempt for an SPS/LPS tank. I pretty much started from scratch only using my live rock (the ones that didn't have any mushrooms on it) and some fish, one hammer and one torch coral.

BAR was recommended to me by Mark (corals b 4 bills) and after signing up for the forum and posting a thread about looking for frags in the bay area I decided to join. I haven't met anyone in person yet but will meet Bryan tonight who was so generous to offer me some SPS frags to start with. Thanks again for that Bryan!

Anyway, I am hoping to meet some of you guys at the April meeting. Have a great day!

Hello... names Jeff. Just moved into the area from North Carolina. The hardest part of the move was taking down my established 75 mixed reef. First week here in Cali I bought an Oceanic 29 gal Cube with an established reef from someone needing to move his tank...happy to have something to play with until I can build a larger system again. Have not joined BAR yet, because I just found it today, but will definately be on the roster soon enough...
In Morgan Hill working in San Jose...so looking for a great LFS to visit...and somewhere to get our supplies. If anyone has any suggestions, would be very appreciative for the referral.
Looking forward to becoming a part of this forum...see you around...

Hello All,

I'm Rudy. I have a 55G tank (kind of mixed with bunch of stuff now). I started this hobby last year (April 1st to be exact, not a joke) and it is my first saltwater tank. I found out about BAR last year when I bought some tankbred clownfish, but I didn't join until today (*feeling embarrased of myself*). I live in Daly City.

Hopefully I can meet some of you guys at the April meeting.

Cheers =D

Hi everyone! I just joined BAR so I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Durwin and I live in San Francisco. I think I've met a few of you guys through sales/trades but I look forward to meeting everyone at one of the meetings and/or swaps.

I have a 20 gallon mixed reef that I started a little over a year ago. That's all the experience I have in this hobby so everything is pretty new to me. But even though I'm a newbie, it didn't take long for the addiction to set in!

Hi guys,

My name is Scott and am living in Walnut Creek. Went to my first BAR meeting as a non-member in February and met a ton of really cool people. I have a 12 Gallon quarantine and a 28 Gallon display. I have been keeping freshwater planted tanks for a while and just recently switched to reef. See you all on Saturday!

Hello,

I just joined BAR last weekend. Hopefully I can make it to some of the meetings. I was a member of Seabay for several years but only managed to make it to 4 meetings. ::)

I've kept fish since I was 8, and have had at least one reeftank going since 2001. My current set up is a 40 gallon tank plumbed to a 20g refugium & 20g sump. Well, it was a refugium till my lantern bass jumped out of the main tank, into the refugium & ate $60 worth of pepperment shrimp.

Expression on the bass's face: ;D
The look on my face:

The 40g has mostly Goniastrea, Platygyra & Acanthastrea colonies w/ some Pocillopora, Stylophora, M Cap's, w/ a few fish, etc.
I work at the UCSF Med Center and pretend to put my wife thru grad school while supporting my reefer's habit.

Oh I forgot to ask, when is the next meeting? I got a little confused reading the events forum. ??? Or maybe I've had way too much coffee to concentrate properly.

Next general meeting is in June (the 14th I believe). We have a board meeting and BBQ on the 11th of May. The current meetings will be stickied in the events and announcement forum.
