hello, my name is garvin and i've been reefing for about 2 1/2 years. i started with a free 55 gallon tank from my brother-in-law and converted into a FOWLR. this tank leaked after a couple of months and was replaced by a 100 gallon tank that was donated again by my brother-in-law. the 100 is still running today but as a zoanthid dominated tank. i am now getting into sps and planning to shut down the 100 to start fresh. i've been selling my zoanthid frags and bumping into some BAR members who have asked me to join. i've donated to reefcentral and now BAR. hopefully i can meet up with ya'll during the meetings to get tips on starting a full blown SPS tank.

on another note, how can i tell if i am a BAR member? i don't seem to have access to anything....thanks, garvin

When did you join/pay? Take a little time to change the status. It's all depend on how much time Bryan (seminolecpa) has :) .. He takes care that stuff.

Sorry you paid as a donation with no forum id so I didn't know who to apply it to. You should be good to go now.

How's it going? My name is Brian, I live in Martinez, and I am a mechanic by trade.
I have a 100gal tank it has only been setup for about 1 month now, and I am still trying to figure out what exactly I am going to put into the tank. I found this site while trying to find others in my area that have reef tanks. I am hoping to attend the June meeting, but if not I will be at the next one. I hope to meet a lot of you soon and to learn a lot and to also contribute as much as I can to the group.

Howdy folks, name's Cavan, rhymes with Gavin. I'm from Oakland, but my hunting grounds run from San Jose to San Francisco. My setup is a 1 month old 55 gallon main. I'm a newbie in aquariums so I'm learning as I go and I would like to learn more about corals before jumping into it. Looking forward to all the wonderful activities and learning experiences here!

Hello Everyone!

I'm a current MARS member and I just joined BAR because in one weeks time I will be living in the East Bay! I'm still something of a newb, but having joined MARS almost a year ago now, I have learned a lot of good information and met some really great people. My current set-up is a 28g JBJ with a mod'd skimmer, phosban reactor, chiller, and I have things running with a Neptune AC III controler, as well as a Litermeter to dose Two Part. It's a bit of a mixed garden at this point, having a bit of everything. The tank is now a year old, and I slowly started incorporating the easier SPS about 6 months ago, and everything has been going well thus far. I'm ready to get a bigger tank, but knew that I'd be moving so I have held off. Unfortunately I will have to hold off for another year as I am currently renting, with the idea of purchasing a house in about a years time.

I won't be able to make this months BAR meeting, but hope to be able to make the following months. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Michael

Welcome new people, all three of you.

I'm Mike see below :D

Hopefully when you do come to meetings we can start with the whole introduction bit so those who do come can start placing names to faces.

As Gresham mentioned, June meeting on Cephs (see announcement subforum) after that in August is the frag swap (really hectic hard to get to know people at this), BOD meetings usually are alternativing months where we don't have a meeting proper, feel free to swing by, give your input on how you want the club run after all you paid your $20 you're entitled to a voice :)

Hi All,

Thanks for the warm welcome's!

Wish I could make it to this months meeting as it sounds very interesting! Unfortunately, that's the day I'll be making the big move. I know that Frag Swaps are pretty crazy as I sold tickets during the October MARS Frag swap, and help set up the tables during the March MARS Frag Swap. Still, I'll try to introduce myself to you all in August!

That's pretty funny Mr. Ugly! I guess I am a MARS BAR now!!

Gomer, I'll be moving to Albany.

Michael
