Cali Kid Corals

New Member Area/Introduce yourself thread

Hey guys, I'm new here about a couple days ago and I'm just examine how this group works because I'm interest being a part of what ever you guys do with corals sounds fun. I'm still lost of about this group, but all I know you guys get together and switched off corals. Is that all? Can you explain me the process?

I just started Propagating corals this month and so far, I only have 1, i don't know if that's enough to join the fun, but yea... hehehe

Welcome Nanocube-boy!

I'm a fairly recent member of BAR myself (about 2 months now), but used to belong to the Sacramento group (MARS). From the posts that I've read here, I can tell you that there are many people here with a lot of experience that can help you get started or help keep you going in the right direction. BAR holds general meetings every other month and you don't have to be a member to attend the meetings. Recently BAR had a Frag Swap in August, but the club does much more than that. I'm sure others who have been with BAR will chime in and give further details. Also, it's been my experience thus far that everyone here is quite friendly and willing to help out with any questions. Welcome!

Mike, thanks. Yea. I'm kinds lost at this point, I do want to check the meeting, but don't know where and when. I also have a frag that I want to trade, but don't know where to start.

Why I'm here? I just want to join and meet people who are interest in reefing like myself. I want to learn and progagate corals, preventing wild caught livestock. Encourage people to switch over captive, tank bred, or aquaculture livestock. That is my goal. Yup...

There is no fee for general/BOD meeting. Anyone can come. The meeting starts at 1PM. At the BOD meeting, we talk about club issues/plans. At the general meeting, we have speaker and the topic is different each time. We usually have raffle at the general meeting and you can trade corals with other members. We have BAR frags swap once a year. You have to be BAR member to attend. I think "Open" frags swap is also once a year. Anyone can attend. There might be a small fee for the frag swap to cover food and other stuff.

Yah, what Phong said :D

Also what Mike said. Frag trading isn't our main thing really. We do focus on education and support of hobbyists to become successful reefers and caretakers of marine life. Propagation and sharing is a natural result of our success as reefers.

Welcome to BAR, Nanocube-boy!

Free off street parking is available at the ASAP warehouse location. You can have a space closest to the building entrance if necessary.
