Reef 3D printing request thread

I found that also. Knock offs are all metric so they’re more likely rounded to the nearest mm.
I have all the locline sizes straight from McMaster. Definitely have it dialed in now.

Why asa? Pla works fine for decorative stuff. Asa is super brittle, esp in water.

I have blue and black tpu up in the printer. I’m going to print a few nozzles in tpu now. lol
Pla breaks down in saltwater and isn't reef safe.

Why asa? I got a fancy new printer and wanted to try out different filaments. Just like abs but less smelly and prints way smoother.

YSK. I have a background in materials. Esp plastics. ASA absorbs water

ETA: UV is the major killer of all these plastics. And PLa is technically water safe. It’s corn based and “shouldn’t” leech anything into the tank. And it breaks down and forces people to buy more deco items
PLA is considered one of the more eco friendly plastics since it can breakdown in 50 years.

Isn't PLA used in bio pellets? Those definitely are degraded by bacteria over time in reef tanks.

no idea. I’d assume it’d be a porous media.
Fwiw, had pla in my copepod and shrimp tanks for years without issue, no loss in color vibrancy. They just get very very brittle. PLA is starch based, so maybe those bacteria are enjoying themselves a nice snack ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ETA: looked up more info. Looks like those biodegradable pellets people use for airsoft are also used for bio balls. TIL. Those are all PLA airsoft pellets

I could use 2x MP40 holders and a DI resin packing plunger.

Anyone have the file for the wide flow guard here too? https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/limpet-wide-flow-pump-guard-vortech-mp40-upgrade-niche3d.html
I would be intrested in one of these for a mp 40, and 2 for mp 10s. Didn't know these existed. I guess it would be very helpful for not droping the dry sides, something I've done once or twice. As i don't even have the little glass sticker that holds the dry side wire since mine were all purchased used.

@Darkxerox did you ever find the file for this?
